125w hydrofarm CFL
was thinking of buying the hydrofarm cfl light with the reflector and built in ballast. plan on buying the two different bulbs for the system also. i'll use the 6400k for veg and the 2700k for flowering. i have read that your not supposed to use timers on these and i've heard of people using them with no problems. i have to have a timer on it though. will this work? what will i yeild?

Yield? Well... you're getting just a bit ahead of yourself. Yield is subject to lots of stuff bro, including but not limited to genetics, grow method, nutes, temperature, experience, blah blah blah.
This light can absolutely work, but don't expect the same results as an HID necessarily. You can work on it and dial in your system over time and probably get more than adequate results, just make sure you pay attention to heat (125w fluoros run surprisingly hotter than the CFLs most folks are used to) vs. distance... the dance, if you will. You're gonna have to get these guys pretty close to your plants (something many folks disagree a lot about) - under 4", possibly as close as 1.25" or so. |

I've had several 125 watt cfl's on timers...never had an issue.

how big is your cab? should work excellent but if you have a decent sized cab, adding supplemental smaller cfls would be very beneficial.

That'll totally work.
Now, I know this may be a little premature if you haven't even rigged your growroom yet, but you basically can do this one of a few ways: 1) just let 'em grow, maybe trim lower growth occasionally; 2) SOG - good for fast turnaround at the possible expense of overall yield (also have to have a mom big enough to supply enough clones for ya); 3) SCROG - good for maximizing yield & space, but adds a few weeks. |

I would say for that size of a grow go with a SCROG method, and keep us up to date on how that light works, I've been looking at those...

got by box almost all the way done. just need to add a fan and pvc pipe for air intake. i used 4/ 2'' holes for the air intake, you think this is enough. i got a bigg ass pc fan might need some help wireing this thing up. the reflector is alot bigger then i though it was going to be, it is 19'' long, 9 1/2'' tall and 12'' or 13'' wide. only have about 2' of space from light to bottom of box. is this going to be a problem. other then that it is looking pretty good.
