My First Grow - 400watt, soil, bunch of seeds - Grow Diaries - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Okay well today i started. I got a 400watt HID HUT Air Cooled unit, Stanley blower(gotta do the mod). I will be using Sta-Green potting soil to start, then swap over to Fox Farm when im not lazy to go to the place. I have the Fox Farm 3 pack ferts coming in the mail.

At 7pm i put them in between 2 damp paper towels. I am germing 6 Godberry, 4 Speed Queen, and 3 Lemon Stinky. In another day i have 15 more feminized seeds coming so ill be doing some number of those. I put the damp paper towels in a zip lock bag(not sealed all the way), in tuber ware without the cover on, and placed on top of my computer tower in my closet.

The closet i have to work with will have 2 holes cut in a new door that i will buy 2morrow. One for a passive intake, and one for the exhaust of the stanley blower. For odor control i may try my luck with the Vaportronic then swap over to a carbon filter if the results aren't what i need.

Anyway pics!!

As for germing. Right now they are on my computer tower, should get a nice temp in the room. Should i just leave them alone till 2morrow, or do i need to keep checking the towels dont dry out.

hey man..you got all the ingredients for a great grow

You seem very neat and organized which is a great thing

wondering how you are vegging..what light are you using?

careful with the fox farms, really strong stuff

dont give them growbig untill they have the set of 3's formed and the 5's comin out, then give em half juice, folllowed by half juice, plain water, then full strength..watch them grow!

thanks for the warm welcome.

anyway i plan to veg under the 400watt HPS. I'll keep it far away and have the fan kicked on to cool it down. Or is that gonna be too much for the little guys/girls?? I have a fishtank hood(very small about a foot/foot half) that has a cfl and a little fan. But i can buy CFL if that is more optimal.

Looks like you have a lot of room for a single 400W. If you can get rid of the heat, I would say get another one of those 400W lights for the closet and you'll be REAL happy with the results.

So its 10am, i just checked the seeds, none looked to have cracked open, and no taproot.

Do they take longer or did i mess up? Towels are still wet.

Also, you guys think a Vaportronic from Vaportek would work in this case? Just have it plugged into closet and no carbon filter for the time being?

Okay so I mounted the light and created a Stanley Blower which is mounted.

Now how can i mount this outside the cabinent without cutting a hole in the door? This door is 27inches which seems like a wierd size, dunno if i can buy that in store. I dunno what i can do.

Get a door cut to size? you could just buy the sheet, get it cut to size and fit the appropriate hinges, install a dryer duct adapter type thing on the inside and a subtle vent on the outside, like an ac duct vent or whatever to keep it looking pretty stealthy. Same for the intake(s).

Well few hours ago, I promised the little seeds some sweet sex if they hurried up. And what do you know, 2/3 in one bag I see root. Didn't check the others figured i'd let em get all worked up.

3/3 Lemon Stinky germed with long taproots.

So into Sta-Green Potting Mix. I cut holes in the bottom of cup, packed soil down very little. Added water till it drained out. Let sit for 5-10minutes. Placed seeds 1/4inch-1/2inch down. Put bag over. Letting em sit in a closet till i see some green.

Added the paper bag to act as a humidty dome?
