1st Grow: EuphoricNoni's Grapefruit Grow :)

Well this is my very first grow guys. I have been doing countless research and now im pretty confident starting my first grow.

I will be growing one Grapefruit plant for my first grow which I purchased from Dr. Chronic from Femaleseeds.nl so it is sure to be a female. I basically bought a femenized seed because since I am only growing one plant, I dont want to waste any time and have it become a male.

Well here it is, this is my setup which is located in my closet by the way...

x3 85watt 6500K CFL's - 4200 Lumen = 12600 Lumen Total (I'll be switching over to 3 2700K 55watt CFL's once I'm in the flowering stage, possibly adding more lights by this time...)

For ventilation, I have a black fan blowing directly at the plant about a foot away at around 200cfm, and another fan up on top blowing air from on top to down below at around 190cfm. That should take care of any heat issues and provide very good air circulation to my plant to strenghten its stems plus get rid of any stagnant air my closet would normally have right?

I'll be using all Fox Farm Products for this grow which includes;

-Fox Farms Organic Soil
-Fox Farms Grow Big (Veg Nute - 6-4-4)
-Fox Farms Big Bloom( Veg & Flower Nute - 1-3-7)
-Fox Farms Tiger Bloom (Flower Nute - 2-8-4)

Methods I will be using

-LST (due to my height restriction, I have about 6ft of height minus one foot for the pot and minus one and a half foot more for the lights and since Grapefruit is predominantly a Sativa plant, I can expect a tall plant, so for that reason plus increasing my yield, I will LST.)
-Top (might top, still considering it)

Weekly News

Day 1 [1/05/07] - Started Germination, used paper towel method and proceeded to cover the whole container using a black shirt and left on top of my monitor for warmth.

Week 1 [1/12/07] - First set of true leaves have came out and it seems as if another set of leaves are beginning to come out also. Plant is looking healthy.

Max temperature / humidity - 81.7F or 27.6°C / 38%

Minimum temperature / humidity - 64.4°F or 18°C / 20%

Week 2 [1/19/07] - Looks like it seconds set of leaves growing out. Havent watered since Day 10, Plant is looking healthy.

Max temperature / humidity - 88°F or 31.1°C / 33%

Min temperature / humidity - 62.8°F or 17.1°C / 19%

Week 3 [1/26/07] - Transplanted Lexus into a 5 gallon nursery pot. It grew really big this past week, plant looking healthy.

Max temperature / humidity - 94.8°F or 34.9°C / 35%

Min temperature / humidity - 62.8°F or 17.1°C / 15%

Week 4 [2/02/07] - Lexus has grown much bigger/bushier, still looking really healthy minus a couple of water spot burns. Will nute and LST it soon.

Max temperature / humidity - 88.0°F or 31.1°C / 46%

Min temperature / humidity - 65.1°F or 18.4°C / 22%

Well guys, I would appreciate any help along my wonderful journey in creating Gods given plant.

Day 8

Day 8

My baby girl is a week old and already has her first set of true leaves. Well it seems as if the first set of true leaves have finally came out fully and if you look closely on pic 4, you could see its new growth is on its way.

Well I still have not watered ever since watering the soil before putting my seed into the soil because the soil still is kinda moist but will either water tomorrow or the next day depending how dry it is (I want my roots to stretch and overall make a harder base, is that ok?). I will water as soon as the lights go on hearing how thats the most effective way in doing it.

When do you think is a good time to transplant? I'm looking to transplant before lst'ing and of course before it gets rootbound. Planning to transplant in a 5 gallon pot.

This Weeks

Max temperature / humidity - 81.7°F or 27.6°C / 38%

Minimum temperature / humidity - 64.4°F or 18°C / 20%

lookin real good euphoric. reminds me alot of my first couple grows. cfls are real fun to use. and like you were saying you will definatly want to pick some more up before you flower her.
have you considered getting an HPS light in your closet? put a 250 or 400watt in there. it would triple your yield easily.

just a thought.
also make sure you dont let the soil dry out to much. there plants roots arent very big right now and need water at the surface to drink. try misting it with a spry bottle.

this should be a good learning experience for ya.

Day 10

Day 10

Well after the lights turned on, I examined the soil and after 10 days of not watering, I decided it was time to do so because the leaves were slightly (very minimal) drooping and the soil was very dry. Watered with Arrowhead distilled water by the way.

Heres some pics on how Lexus(it's what I named the plant :smile is doing.

Thanks for the reply Darrin, I'm probably going to transplant after the 3rd leaf set so I can start LST'ing immediately after I transplant. Thinking that would be ideal because after the 4th or 5th leafset, the main stem becomes stiffer consequently making it harder to bend right? Would that be ok?

I'm considering getting an HPS for my next growth but im still not to sure. This is taking place in my closet so heat could become and issue by getting an HPS light.

As always input greatly appreciated.

Grapefruit. Moo bueno

Hey EN. Looks good. I've got a couple of FMS grapefruit babies around 3 weeks old. I'm new to growing a sativa. I've grown several other FMS strains and I'm looking forward to these. I'll be veg'ing them ??? weeks... 'til I can clear out some room in the flower room. I'm limited to 5 feet of headroom so I'll need to train them somehow.

My first set of lights were (2) 125 watt Envirolites. I still use them for my vegbox. They are great for keeping the innernode space short. I finally caved in last year and bought a 400 hps. Nothing fancy, just the basic model. I am amazed at what a workhorse these lights can be. Even the smaller 75w and 150w can be added to existing fluoros for more punch.

Here's my 2 gals. They're a week apart.

Day 15

Day 15

Plant is two weeks old and looking like its growing more bushy than tall, (very pleased with that since I have some height restriction) and it hasnt stretched at all (maybe I got a short pheno considering the fact that this plant is well known for stretching). I have the lights about 2 inches away from the plant and Lexus has been loving it so far. So far Lexus is looking healthy.

Haven't watered it since Day 10 and could go another day or two before watering I believe. Thinking of transplanting on day 22, a week later.

Hey RW, nice looking grow you got there, it seems that your 2 week old Female Grapefruit is bigger than my 2 weeks old Female Grapefruit even though our wattage is the same for vegging. Nice job.

This Weeks

Max temperature / humidity - 88°F or 31.1°C / 33%

Min temperature / humidity - 62.8°F or 17.1°C / 19%

Here is some pics

Do you start counting their days from when they sprout or from the first day of germination?

the stretch I think only comes when you throw it into flower. I grew 3 grapefruits from seed and all seemed to act similarly... very compact growth at first, then when you flower they shoot up a couple feet or so. I only vegged them less than a month... they went from about 10 inches tall to about 3 feet.

btw, I vegged for about 3-4 weeks with 160watts of shoplight flouros positioned very close to the plants. When I made the switch to flower, I set up 400watts (5 fixtures with 2 40w bulbs) of red spectrum fluoro sidelighting and an overhead 400w Metal Halide.

here's a shot of my first grow... mid flower. day 30 or so.

heres the plant from the right... currently revegging. I'm hoping a long veg and an even canopy will produce a maximum yield.

I didn't yield much the first time, but I feel better about this grow. hope I could give you an idea about stretching w/ GF.

Yum, Grapefruit. I've heard good thing on the few Grapefruit smoke reports I've seen. Good strain man, and good luck.

thanks for the replies guys.

hey Krypton, i'm planning to LST and was wondering that if my Grapefruit does begin to stretch when put into flowering, can I LST during flowering?
