heating and tinctures - is it required
Seen a bunch of recipes for tinctures and green death - some call for heating some don't I'd like to know if anyone has tried both ways and if the heating improved the effect greatly or not?
Any insites into the process of heating and what it does? Also wondering if anyone has done a tincture with vapor duff? thanks, suga

I never heat mine. I keep it cold and in the freezer the entire time. I never get taste complaints. I also add a few vanilla beans.

Ive tried & tested both ways...
I can say 'whole heartedly' that there is no comparison. No heat will get you high, but the boil definitely RELEASES the potency. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=38833 Try this recipe

You can use EC, you can use brandy... if you use good bud, loose grind and soak and shake I mean for six months let it soak that stuff will be potent ![]() if you use trim or leaves or even male plants still give it time but then after you strain it, squeeze out every single drop, THEN you can boil it do it outside I know degreed chemist blows up his own kitchen I boil mine off to 1/3 or less and I get some strong green juice do not bother under the tongue it hurts and your whole mouth is mucous membrane anyway..... mrs m

Google "decarboxylate+THC" ;D
THC Extraction Some samples of grass have considerable THC acid. In order to extract this it is first necessary to decarboxylate it by heating it to 100 degrees [Celsius/ i.e. boiling water] for fifteen minutes. https://nepenthes.lycaeum.org/Drugs/THC/thcextract.html see also Development of Cannabis-based therapeutics: https://mojo.calyx.net/~olsen/HEMP/IHA/jiha5113.html Making cannabutter with a double boiler is the safest/most efficient extraction method-- AND it gets the herb's THC acids thoroughly decarboxylated in the process. No toxic/flammable/explosive solvents, either!! Be well!

I put my vapor duff in whole raw milk and simmer for 15-20 minutes as low as you can go, strain out the duff, drink the milk and I am good.

vapor duff makes good tincture too - just cover with a high proof booze and let sit for a while then strain -tastes a little blecky but gets the job done and no heating is required as the vapor duff is already decarboxylated

Check out master wu's recipe for green dragon tincture if you haven't already.
Every time I used this recipe it has worked extremely well. https://boards.cannabis.com/concentra...-combined.html |

heating isnt just there for decarboxlyation, as it also makes the ethanol (solvent) more aggressive in dissolving the goodies present in the source material. Heat aids the extraction time. if you want to wait 3 months, you dont need heat... if your less patient then maybe use some heat.
