130+ watt floro grow, heat problwms!
So I basicaly wanted to see what I could do with a shit tone of floros, I have a LOT now, well over 100w, I need to count it all up some time lol. its all in a closet with 3 seedlings, but there is a problem it seems. I stuck a little glass thermomiter in there under the lights and it seems my temps are well over 100 degrees! That seems way hot, but I dont know if my little thermomiter is acrurate. I try to water the seedlings which are not under a dome twice a day and they seem very happy but the high temp still worries me. Are my worries founded? Should I go out and get a remote digital thermo/humidity gauge from home depot or wallmart?
Edit: Ohh and I turned off about half the floros, I still have two ~23 watt ones and one 42 watt one on them still. Pics to follow.

do you have an intake and exhaust fan ? also the thermometer does not go under the lights, it goes near the top of your cabinet away from drafts and the lights.
take a photo of your cabinet so we can have a look. |

Heres a pic from my first grow. I moved the thermomiter away from the lights but its on the floor now, that should be good.
The lighting is different this time but there is no way to ventilate the closet without cuting a hole in the roof which I wont do.

ah ha.....
well your problem is ventilation then! what about cutting fan holes in the door? or if you dont want to damage the door, pick up a cheap door from the dump or make your own door. hope your new lighting is more effective as that plant shown seems quite stretchy and no bushing. |

Yea its going to be much more effective, I just hope the temps will be ok because I wont do any cutting in there. I've started to top the sprouts and today the oldest one showed new shoots coming in after the first true leaves.
Edit: I did a head count of how many lights I htink I have and how many watts they are each and all added up it seems to be 204watts! I dont think I will use the whole batch of lights all that often lol, just during flowering.
