Satori Questions
Hello Mike!
I decided to give your Satori a try, and this is the result so far. I have 4 girls still flowering in my indoor growroom. Two of them are small, two of them more than twice as tall. So there is certainly some variation among the plants. I let them veg for a very long time(don´t know for sure, but at least 6 weeks), and they did not strech very much, especially the 2 smaller phenos. I had some troubles at the beginning (fucked up timer, etc...), and since a few weeks I have "Billions" of so called "fungus gnats", black flies in the garden, but those Satoris got along with all that pretty good(despite one of the 2 small phenos, but I´ll come back to that later...) My grow is 100% organic which means that I grow in ORGANIC soil(not the one that´s pre-fertilzed with phosphates), since they began flowering I only feed them once a week with a very little dose of "Alga Bloom" from Plagron, and I refuse to spray them with any nasty chemicals in order to get rid of those flies. The bad thing is that they lay their eggs into the soil and the resulting larves eat on the roots... I tried to order SF Nematodes but they can´t be delivered at the moment, because temperatures are too low. Then I got the tip to use Bacillus Thuringiensis, which as I found out shortly after, isn´t a smart idea. So the first question is pretty obvious: Do you have any tips how to get rid of those "gnats" in a natural way? The second question refers to the problem child among the 4 girls. She´s one of the 2 small phenos. I have ten years of growing experience under my belt, but this is really a special case. Sorry, but I can´t provide any pictures at the moment, so I´m gonna try to describe the symptoms as accurate as possible: Since the beginning of flowering the little leaves surrounding the calyxes look like they were burnt, but only on their tips, maybe 1mm, not more. Then as flowering went on the fanleaves started to become light green(chlorosis), it doesn´t look like a lack of nitrogen but more like a Magnesium deficiency. The flowers are small, nonetheless pretty compact and christally, but now this plant really looks sick with all those fanleaves gettin lighter every day, guess they will die off during the next days, plus she developed some unnatural "purpling" on the top which reminds me of Phosphorus deficiency. Could it be that this pheno had very low restistancce against the "fungus gnat larves"? Or what the f... is going on here? The other small girl looks healthy, very hairy and compact top cola. One of the two tall phenos is simply perfect. Big heavy top cola, perfect calyx to leave ratio with good trichome prodution. I had to bend her up, because she started to bow down because of the weight... The other tall pheno has more leaves in between the flower clusters, and a totally different bud formation, but she also looks pretty promising. Your catalouge says that Satori was an Indica-Sativa hybrid containing landrace genetics from Nepal. My guess is that the Sativa part comes from Nepal and manifests more in the taller phenos. Am I right? And by the way, where does the Indica part come from? Many questions in a chaotic post, I know... But I would be very happy about a reply. Satori seems to be a pretty robust strain, some variation, but the "bowing down" tall pheno looks like a keeper, as well as the healthy looking small pheno for sea of green. Interresting genetics for a really fair price. Peace, spice Last edited by spicecowboy; 12-31-2006 at 03:13 AM.. |

i had a similar problem with some of my plants in my first grow...
mid to late flowering a couple plant's leaves just kept getting yellower, i noticed it at the tips too like u said. it would almost seem like the tips were carmelized, they'd be hardened and yelled/browned. i ended up harvesting immature, still had 20 days to go on some of them. i dont know wut strains they were, random seeds. the bud seemed like it wasnt effected by the leaves, i was reading on www.americanagritech.com the Sweet nutrient product they have is supposed to prevent something that sounds similar to our problems? im not positive though, iplan to use it in my next formula. |

1) Yellow stickers. Every grow room should have these! All flying adult pests can be caught on the stickers which greatly controls pest populations. 2) Neem oil. A perfect biopesticide efficient against 200 types of pests and it can also be watered on soil (usually sprayed on plants). 3) There are some products on the market especially against gnats. Garlic based ones can work, and I have seen one grower controlling them withcayenne pepper sprinkled on the soil. Quote:
What size pot does she have and when did you last repot and look at the root zone? Quote:
Yes, the Nepalese landrace genetics is sativa. The variation in height is usually not so pronounced as in your grow, but there is typically a shorter and a taller pheno. Variation is important! This is something we explicitly state in our online intro. Without some variation you loose many valuable traits that I find a good cannabis strain should have. Quote:
Cheers, Mike
