I want to move to the netherlands - Dutch/Flemish - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

I am an American that NEEDS to get out of this country , any advice? I would love to live in europe....how could I do it?

For americans it is quit easy to move to Europe. Call the dutch embassy.

It is really not difficult! At my job there's so many foreign people - americans as well. I had it quite easy to get here though for EU citizens there is less trouble...we can just move and work throughout the EU without needing further permission (just have to sign up at your town, get a social identification number basically thats it)
I guess you as an american will have to request a permission to work, if you maybe find a company here that needs you (maybe because of native english + whatever you're good at) i assume there is no problem to get that. The fine thing is...as far as i know...anyone who has lived in the netherlands for 5 years can request a dutch passport - have no idea if you can get permission for this long time though...might depend on the circumstances, check with the embassy.
Would do it myself but laws in my own country forbid me to have 2 passports at the same time - and i want to keep it for reasons. You might have to go for the dutch one if the netherlands 'd be your new home

Btw. ^^ did you know weed is basically not legal here (owning it, growing it, selling it...) nice grey-zone though. Basically the cops are really behind the big growers, and they check on the coffeshops if they stick to the rules. 18+ only, no harddrugs, not more than 500g within the shop.. otherwise they get shut by the local authorities - first time for a while...second time eventually for ever. New coffeshops got quite rare in the last years though the goverment did go a bit harder against this system...specially because of the EU..(sometimes i love it sometimes i hate it) but mostly just because of the elected goverment. There is at least hope that it will not get worse, they love to bust a lot beacause of firesafety and go against the real big ones as usua. But they do not rally want to change much. It worked so well ^^ for such a long time...
