thanks Brother Monk!
Guyute, parental dominance depends on the strains being used.. For example, DC males are slightly more dominant in crosses than DC females.. Also, others report that the more heavily worked the line is (IBL, inbred landrace), the more dominant it will be in the cross.. So Skunk#1 x Sour D IBL should be more skunk#1 dominant, as the Skunk#1 line is much more heavily worked than the SDIBL.. will this^ play out the same everytime? I doubt it.. But many experienced breeders report this.. Also, it could be that the wide-leafed DC/PAKI/oldskool plants are just naturaly more dominant.. but then what happens when u cross them together? an even mix? hard to say.. In the end it all comes down to testing the progeny.. You can make very well educated guesses, but at the end of the day, the proof is in the progeny. Here's some pics of the lovely Hill Temple Indica ladies as of an hr ago.. They're not perfectly healthy, as it takes a bit to get them dialed back in after transplanting and switching over to HPS veg from shoplight veg.. The plant's uptake of nutrients jumps substantialy, and a couple are in need of a lil more nutes.. but they're in pretty decent health, jus the #1 fem has a few calcium deficiency spots..
The 1st female to show, squatter 'regular affie' pheno: The 2nd female to show, the slightly lanky 'regular affie' pheno: The 3rd, and my favorite, the 'Oldy McSkewl' pheno: |

I got HTI female #3 in flower now, I put it in a couple days after the last pics.. one of the regular affie phenos..
I still have 2 of them vegging, I'm jus flat outa space in flower for another week or 2, so I'm keeping the last 2 in 6" pots as long as possible to keep em growing slower.. The heavy 'ghani pheno is much slower.. keeping up in height with the others, but certainly not width.. Both are still 100% healthy tho, and will go into flower when the next avaliable space opens up.. Yes, they are very vigorous, the most vigorous of the HTC stock i've grown so far.. here's the other 'reg' affie pheno that's still in veg.. she's in a 6" pot pics were taken today.. |

I wonder if you will see a surge in vigour once you put them in flower. I thought that Blockhead and Sweet tooth were slackers but was impressed when they were put into flower.
What are you looking for in these plants? I know you are trying to preserve the line, but are you going to look for overall qualities of flavor and yield? You have two different phenos which is nice. Or are you going to try to get it stable so that the seedstock will be relatively uniform? Just curious. Looks like great plants. K |

thanks cook, me likes a good indica too :lick:
well, kmarpa, if i upcanned them now they would explode, I bet they'd double in size in 1wk if put into a 2 gal.. So I'll probly leave those ones in 6" in veg, and when space opens up I'll transplant to a 1 gallon round (kind alike dbl potting) and put straight into flower.. the reg affie pheno in flower is stretching well, but it's still in a 6" so that should keep it under control.. I'll know more about the vigor in veg/flower after i'm done flowering.. aswell as what I'll select for.. I'll use the 1st 3 fems to get a feel for the line, and see which way (if any) i want to go.. For example, if I prefer the 'old skool' pheno vastly over the reg affie phenos then i will likely try to work the line in that direction.. if the reg affie smokes better I'll take it that way.. But if both are good and have nice qualities of their own, i will jus preserve as much of the genes as possible and use all healthy/good females/males.. It's hard to say what I'm going to do without having sampled it yet.. I don't have a ton of beans (12 all together) so i will have to choose my route carefully.. And I will need to test the line thoroughly to make sure it's still worthy of the HTC name.. It'll take some time, and u will see it all play out here.. |
