Moonshines 06 hunting rundown...

I had one heck of a hunting season this year. Dont want to offend anyone but you guys know Im a southern boy born and rasied so its just in my blood....I took almost a 10 year hiatus from hunting a while back so Im makin up for lost time afield...

I ended up with a fridge full of venison (3 total) and an Elk....and the world ended up with 3 less coyotes and a rather large Black Squirle who kept chirppin away on my rut hunt....

I made the commitment to only Bowhunt this year and it was much more of a "test of species" with the cervids winning out most of the time.....

I saw 9 Moose and had a rather large Bull moose walk close enough for me to touch and smell.....

The highlights would be the 178+ P&Y whitetail I took @ 40 yards the opening day of Archery season and the HUGE female Mulie I shot @ 33 yds while bare footed and in my boxers near my house early one morning in Oct, True Redneck hunting at its finest......

Next year Im hopin for the big mulie I see every fall after I have filled my tags....

I had everything CWD tested and all came back clean....I had a friend get a Bull elk from Montana that tested positive this year.....

I havent eaten Beef or pork in a couple of months....

.......Im havun Elk fajitas tonight......

Thanks Baccas...

I forgot to mention my Black bear hunt........bear sign everywhere.....scat bigger than yer head....finnaly I get a 35-40 yard shot at a decent sized bi-color phase boar and what do I do.....stick an arrow right between his legs......He took one look at me and was out.....I never had a chance to nock another arrow....So Im gonna keep my fingers crossed for next year....

The Fajitas were delicious tonight was Venison Roast with potatoes and carrots....mmmmm

Now thats what im talking about..........The deer where im at ....lets just say if you see a forky take it...........But in COL this year I had me a good year. Just so damn exp to get them out of town tags. Yea I only need to just use a bow man its so much more of a hunt. Did you use a tree stand? How was the Bear? I got a black bear a couple years ago and the meat was so gummy it was the last time I got a tag. I heard all the bear here is like that no matter how you cook it. You got the fajitas and I got the venison jerky.

Sorry its been a bit since Ive been around....Tryin to spend a few more weeks tryin to get me a Bobcat or two in their winter coats.....and its been COLD and TOOOO damn snowy...

I use whatever method of hiding I have or the terrain allows......Treestand, Double Bull blind, fresh cut cedar blind, spot and stalk,Still hunt, snow track ...whatever the circumstances dictate....

I guess I wasnt clear enuff in my bear story...I MISSED....the bear quartered away and my arrow slipped below his belly and right between his front paws....I was nocking a 2nd arrow when he looked up and got the hell out of dodge....I personaly want the unrubbed pelt of a good sized blackie..( I want a rug plain and simple)...after I get a good one , Ill be done Bear hunting,...personaly Ive had southern Black bear once and it was done as sausage in a jumbayala and it was good.....but Ive heard as steak its not for shit....my buddy who processes my game (hes a butcher and wont let me do it) says he only does bear as smoked sausage and country sausage .....Next year I decided to hunt Bear from the ground in a Double Bull so I can get all personal....

Next year my goal is to harvest a 350 class Bull Elk and a 200+ Mulie, nothing less.....the season is just comin to an end and Im already plannin my scouting trips in the spring and itching for opening day of archery season next fall........I told my new boss he wouldnt see me from Aug- Dec except between killin stuff.....and he just rolled his eyes and said "I expect some meat".....and hes takin me to get my first antalope next fall ....

Stoked....

Moonshine....aka Deerslayer....lol....just for you Elkslayer... .

Yea it looks like your going to be knee deep next year......Antelope now thats some good meat if done right....I think the trick was to marinate venison in 7up. You know us mexicans use 7up and orange soda for everything. It really takes the game taste out ond leaves a sweet flavor. But I know you got your own shit up your sleeve. Man I went on a hunt for some Bore with some "devildog" whiteboys that were in my unit and let me tell you they got close as they only used a KBAR and a make shift laso.....dumb drunk asses you should have seen it...........Man Im going to have to break out that bow......happy hunt
