Good things those beans made it into others hands before the bust. Looks like lot of good things to come. Happy Holidays to both of ya and I wish the best of luck to OG Bub.

I've heard the cripple creek is some good shit fo sure.. I'll be doing the DCxPAKI IBL, and probly DCxPTK/PTKxDC later, so I should have something pretty close the orig CC to grow.
Sounds interesting jaykush, I'd love to see ya grow em and preserve em.. One can never have too many old skool lines, especialy of the affie/paki/kush persuasion  Let me know what happens with those, i'm always interested.. My thoughts exactly sbz, we are extremely lucky 4-5 packs of each of the unreleased lines made it outa the Hill before the bust.. I was just the person fortunate enough to end up with them.. DC, Sunshine and HT Skunk are fairly well preserved as is, so that's why I'm starting with the unreleased/rarer stuff like PAKI, Nepal, and HT Indica.. The person that's donated/traded these to me is the real hero here.. I got him some great clones to work with, and he's not used to keeping males/preserving lines, so in the end he knew he wasn't the best person to work the lines... And that shows true selflessness, putting the greater good of the cannabis community ahead of the desire to be the only one with a rare line, which is what happens sometimes.. He would have gotten the clones even without these seeds, so I didn't have to pressure him to give them up, he just realized it was the best thing to do.. He wishes to remain private, but i need to give him some props, he gifted/traded/passed onto me 4 packs of PAKI, 5 of Nepal HP, 4 Sunshine IBL, 4 HT Skunk IBL, 4 Powerhouse all together, almost 2K retail of beans, that's no small gift, and i'm very apreciative. I'm jus the caretaker of these until we can get them back out there.. guyute54, i don't mind at all, pull up a chair.. If all goes good these may make it back on to the retail scene, but regardless they will get out to many, I'll be sure of it... You never want lines as valuable as these in only one person's hand's, it's just too risky since this is an illegal hobby.. But we'll see what happens on the retail end  |

Glad to hear you're working with these lines, beancounter. Can't wait to see some shots of those Paki IBLs flowering. I'll definitely be watching.

Im glad to see, and confidently KNOW, beancounter has his ducks in a row!
right on BC, glad to see you giving props to our mutual friend ![]() and if he reads this: THANK YOU!! and please gimme a shout sometime! Im proud to see these in yer garden! you actually have the 2nd inbred gen of a particular Paki pheno from the original paki line. as you are quite familiar with my breeding practice, the original line has been openly inbred by multiple parents in an outdoor scenario, assuring preservation of potential variance. the pheno I used in the last 2 Inbred gens were quite dominant/selected for, in the following traits: -High potency, quite punchy/couchy effect. -Wide leaf structure, and stoutness of plant. -High resin production. -Uniquity and uniformity of these traits. I will add that this inbred pheno is not represenative of the original line, it is a favord pheno, that I definetly needed to isolate for its qualities! it does display many similarities (obviously) to much of the line, but this particular pheno was favord in some aspects, that the rest of the line was not so strong in, ie short stature, leaf profile and short duration of flower. you may recognize Strong Indica hints, that are familiar in much of my work. great job my friend!!\ bub.

Really looking forward to watching this preservation project unfold, it is an important (and noble) task to preserve these pure genetics. I've been lucky enough to get hold of some Afghani beans direct from Afghanistan, a AFOAF serving in the army was unlucky enough to get sent to Afghanistan this year and was lucky enough to get hold of a small batch of seeds from an old farmer in a remote place (he wouldn't be specific, and won't go into details other than 'they came from an old guy who's been growing them (these particular seeds) since Moses was a boy') and passed them onto me when he was home on leave. I'll find out from him which region of Afghanistan they came from, and altitude, whether highland or lowland next time I speak to him. He showed me a bunch of pictures and the plants were 2-3 foot and looked about two thirds of the way into flowering, reminded me very much of Maple Leaf Indica rather than the old Afghan #1, they had the classic xmas tree structure and big leaves on really long petioles, it was the leaves that really reminded me of MLI, having the same lighter colour and extremely broad fingers. I'll be starting them in a month or so when I have room in my grow and am really looking forward to trying a landrace Afghan. Of course, the plan is to make seeds and preserve the line, hopefully it will be a good one.

thanks Bub, I've passed on yer gratitude to our friend, and he says he was happy to help
Thanks for the info on how the line was selected Bub, that info will help me alot later.. I'll reply in more detail later and give u a call tomorow. thanks for stopping by BH, i apreciate the interest. It's nice to hear and see more people interested in the old affie/paki lines.. In fact it's great to see interest in any landrace or IBL.. Good luck with those seeds and let me know how they turn out, i'm always interested in such things.. I jus put the 2 PAKI fems into flower last night, in 2 gallon garbage cans, and at about 3' tall from the floor. When I measured the plants they were both about 34" wide, so these do grow wider than tall so far.. After the last pics I posted I put them in the 2 gal cans and vegged em up under 430w HPS (enhanced) for about 2 weeks.. As u can see they exploded, and I had a very hard time keeping them perfect.. It's hard to keep her green without inducing the 'claw', I think this line would do better in a constant feed situation like organic or possibly hydro.. I don't think they like the 'binge and purge' feeding of soiless/chem, so to speak.. Anyways, they both seem to be fairly healthy despite the problems, and altho I was tempted to go to a 5-7 gallon, there's jus no way i could handle the width of 2 of these plants vegged that large, they need to be outdoors for that. Here's one of the girls at about 9 weeks veg: |

No worries pterosaur, the Nepal will have their day in your court, rest assured..
I too enjoy a fine sativa, it's just that so far, for 'pure' strains, the pure indica's flavors (danker, earthy-skunky, piney, kushy) suit my taste buds more than the pure sats I have been able to try. That being said my experience with pure sativas are limited, and i know for a fact that i will find some sativas with flavors that i abslutely love.. no doubt. And a man can not live on indicas alone. Also, after talking to Bub today I will be giving him 2 packs of the Nepal, so that he has enough pure original stock to continue working the line. He has the best hands on knowledge with the strain, and has been working it for a bit. He's better experienced to work this line towards the goal he originaly intended on acomplishing. With my preservation projects, i planned more of an open pollination (keep as many genes alive as possible) route, not really selecting for specific traits. By giving bub enough to work with of originals, he'll be able to skip a step, instead of working back from my presevation run.. At least, that's how it works in my head.. lol I'll still be doing 3 packs, open pollination style, with help/tips from Bub and mild selection, for preservation's sake, and not for future release. I look forward to growing them just as much as you brother, i assure you  Last edited by beancounter; 01-10-2007 at 07:26 AM.. |
