For CFL's, look for "daylight" or "sunlight" spectrum. They are even better than standard cool spectrum bulbs and easier to find. Walmart carries the GE brand and sometimes the Lights of America brand.

Daylight spectrum for vegging. Soft/warm white for flowering. In early flowering, leave a couple daylight bulbs in to minimize stretch.

1/2 warm white & 1/2 cool white for both veg and flower. You may benefit from adding a tiny incandescent bulb. Maybe 20 watts incandescent to 100 watts florescent. The incandescent is optional.

For veg use 2 cool per 1 warm and flower is 2 warm per 1 cool with a 3/1 rating being optimal. 30-42 watts is great but can be hard to find at your local wal-mart. Also, incandescents are not great cause they put out a lot of heat and as such can't be place close to your plants and do not give out enough useable spectrum to be all that effective. I believe sproutco mentioned them because they do put out a lot of red spectrum and their wide availability. I just wouldn't use them cause of the heat and the fact that not all of the red spectrum they produce is useable.
