2' x 2' x 3' Micro grow advice

Hey, I'm pretty new to the forum and I was thinking about setting up a small micro grow while I get things going on a bigger (2k) grow. I've done quite a bit of reading online, and from books, but not so much for (very) small scale grows.

Ideally I'd like to have my entire grow in a 2' x 2' x 3' (more realisticaly based on my measurements it will be 20" x 30" by 3') growbox. Ballast, odor control, and hydro system can be in a seperate area.

There is my issue. I would like to grow hydro, mostly becaue I find it more interesting, but also because I just dont really want to deal with the soil situation. So I want to do hydro. I've read about a bunch of hydro systems but it seems that it would be dificult to do in a space this size. The grow light will hopefully be a 250W HPS from a security light seperated off with a peice of glass and exhausted out of the box.

I will be growing 4 plants with 1 plants per sq ft. What is the most space efficient hydroponic grow method? I was thinking about a small NFT system with the PVC in a U shape, but any other reccomendations would be nice. My main concern is the height limit.

Thanks in advance.

i second mtn. john, i love using dwc! i have one plant a few weeks from being done in a dwc and it is def the way to go. if you can do a recirculating system, even better. i have to top off the tub every 2 days or so and if i had the space for recirculating, prolly wouldnt have to but every week to week and a half.

Yeah, DWC is one way to go. It's easy and simple. changing the nute solution is a pain in the ass, though, unless you install a drain near the bottom of the tub with a valve and elevate it a little so you can a bucket under it or run a tube to the toilet.

You can also use a recirculating DWC with the root chamber inside the grow space and the res outside of it, which leaves you with fewer heat problems, easier res maintainence and a little more work to design and build. Whichever fits your skills best, really.
