Surely a federal investigation leading to a bust will lead to Federal Charges regardless of size just because of the effort involved, and likley evidence gatherd before the bust even if you had nothing at the time.

What determines when a local bust goes federal? Is there a manditory size threshold? What about in cases where the official juristictions policy states "marajuana inforcement" is their lowest law inforcement priority?

Other criteria that will get you federal is if you crossed state lines in the commission of your crime. Or if they think you have ties to organized crime. Theres a long battle of state vs federal when the states recognize medical MJ and the feds dont. Personally I dont think the feds would take a local bust unless there was an organized crime element involved.

if you have over 99 plants it federal .also if dea is the one who investigates it usually stays federal.this is from my personal experience whith the feds .you should not go over 49 in the us penaltiese are to great.busted 4 years ago almost free 19 days and counting .

If your local gendarmes don't like the way you look or act they can just hand all your records over to the feds to pursue. Also, if anonymous asshats call the drug line and report you, you have to prove you're innocent. With pot you're guilty first, unless you prove otherwise. One son lost a good truck driving gig because of a drunken bitch accusing him of smoking pot and taking coke. Instant hair test and poof he's barred from driving for life. He's never done coke in his life, just toked with the old man once in a while. Go figure.

Bottom line is if someone thinks you are and reports it, you better pass the drug tests to prove your innocence. And for hades' sake don't have a grow goin at the time or you will face time, not just the loss of a good job.

What really pisses me off is I fought in two "wars" (Korea and Nam) and neither was ever officially declared a war, so we're up the creek without a paddle on benefits. This government bullshit is NOT what I spent 2 tours with my ass on the firing line for.

Every day we get closer and closer to Hitler's doctrines and the way he conducted business as usual.

Sorry to hear that xdank,your info is spot on though,anything over 99 will get you involved in the federal system.Congragulations on your freedom man they took 17 months of my young life for 2 ounces of erb about 25 years ago lol,the fucks havent touched me since though

to throw down a full on investigation, these feds usually go after numbers. theyre usually looking for people with high numbers of plants to bust and rack those numbers in.

that doesnt mean if they stumble upon a small grow theyre just going to let it go, by no means. theyre definitely looking for numbers though they love those thousand plant outdoor grows, especially in california, theres not much they can do to slow the flow of great cannabis. prop 215 has over 200k medical patients last time i heard, there isnt a fucking thing they can do to stop all of us.
