O.K. Two of my hydro bogglegums are showing ugly symptoms.
Scrawny leaves with downward pointing tips. Mottled yellowing and some rusty brown spotting, but these were the two that were kind of mutated from the beginning, one was a twin and the other just plain wierd. Is this nute burn or a deficiency? Also is this an example of the undesirable boggle pheno versus the desirable grape-hearty boggle? I already changed my resevoir. I know my humidity it too low but this is supposed to be a super-hearty plant. Any advice. I'd post pix if it worked here. |

Hard to say without more information and because I don;t know anything about hydro either. Perhaps Otis can help you as he is both accomplished at hydro and indoor soil growing.
Bogglegum has mostly hardy seedlings. Can you tell us more about your set up and contact Otis by Pm? He is the moderator in the medical mari forum. Can you also post a picture to the site gallery for us? BOG

Thank you for your quick attention.
I have just gotten a new computer and lost my copy of photo shop so I cannot reduce my images to small enough size but I will try to remedy this by tommorrow. I have a crappy Emily's Garden setup...total newbie stuff. 2 gallon res. Bubbler type hydro It is closeted. I have 125 watt envirolite-red 2 65 watt fluorex type-blue and 160 watts of 4 ft tubes-mixed spectrum What is that 405 watts flouro? I use BC Technaflora 3 part with thrive alive red and I have enough ventilation in my small space with the largest Computer fan radio shack had. 5 days into flower. I will send a PM like you requested. Thanks alot Bog |

I haven't sexed the plants yet. I have been looking for obvious signs like the two hairs at the internodes but none so far.
I will put up new pictures soon because they still look a little crispy to me. Again thanks for the quick attention. Benito |

It isn't likely to get 2 of them. I would say something has caused them a problem. Wish I could help. BOG

I would agree on the spots, I looked at your pictures and the spots look like you dripped some nutz on the leaves and the light burn them. As for the sick looking plant, did you flush before change the rez? and are all plants showing the same signs? If it was me and i also grow in Hydro "Ebb&Flo" i would flush them, then add the nutz. If i have problems with shortage of stuff besides nutz. I like to use Cal-Mag, this stuff works great for Mag problems and other deficiency. Good luck, hope you fix the problem.

Just an update...
I flushed today, thoroughly with plain water...then I ran some extremely dilluted nutes thorugh the plants and net pots...like it says in Indoor Marijuana Cultivation. Then I refilled my rez with the BC Boost and Bloom and Thrive Alive Red but all at half strength...If they seem to take well to this I will top off with more half strength nutes instead of PHed water which is what I hear you are supposed to regularly top off with... I will post updated pictures soon. Also, anyone who has been following this saga will be sad to note that that big plant in the middle of my garden...the monster bag seed...just showed some sexual characteristics today...I think the bastard is a male

The problem with bag seed is the likelyhood of hermie plants. Often the seeds found in commercially grown bud is the seed made from hermie flowers. Sinse growers on a large scale often have a few because of the number but no males. This makes the odds of good seeds from a bag low. Also the fact that they grew fast probably only means that they are of the sativa variety that may take longer in flowering. Up to 18 weeks. Ya never know.
Keep working on the bogglegum and next time I am sure you will get something more like this one I did in a 4 gallon soil pot. BOG:p

I thank you for taking a personal interest. Bog you are a class act. And the minute I get some good buds I will post the pictures.
P.S. I think You are definitely right about the hermie thing...The bagseed plant that I thought was a male is probably a hermie as I think bud sites started developing today right next to the round ball-like male looking things. ![]() Anyway the plants seem to be doing a bit better since I halved the strength of the B.C. technaflora. The intructions called for tablespoon after tablespoon per gallon...It just seemed a bit high for a closet grow... |
