How do Mandala strains respond to be topped?

Hello all was just reading about topping your plants which is cutting off the cola right above a internode which causes two or more colas to grow from the cut.

Here's a quote from a page:
"Depending on the strain and the growing environment, the 'topped' plant may produce two small top colas instead of two big ones. Also, each strain has a threshold for bud production that cannot be improved upon because it is a genetically predetermined factor. On the other hand, some plants when fully grown without topping do not reach their threshold. The strain Blueberry is a good example of this. If you grow Blueberry without topping you won't achieve maximum bud production from that plant, but if you top the Blueberry, you will. Other strains aren't so flexible and the two top colas will simply share the same volume of bud that a single cola would have produced on the same strain."

So I was wondering if anyone has topped Mandala strains like Hashberry, Sadhu, and Satori, or any others - and how they respond to be topped.

Mike do you know anything on this?

I also have another question related to SCROG,
When doing SCROG do you top the plant or just train it by tieing it down? I know you use a screen above the plants, and basically you get a lot of colas instead of 1. But do you top it or just train it? Or both?

Thanks,
ezbake

Not sure if I'm much help. But I've got 10 Hashberrys standing as proud seedlings. So I plan on topping in 2 weeks then veg and tie down over the following 2 - 3 weeks of veg. Then I'm gonna flower em, under a 1000 watt HPS.

Check out some grows here, some av been topped then some not. Can't help you on the scrog as I do Sog

One love....Stash

Yeah after reading about it more it says...

The strain will either grow two small colas the size of 1 large, or 2 large colas... so i'll either get the same cola yield or better, not worse - so im just gonna try it on em.

My growing method is LST with SCROG, so i need to top it at the end of the LST to do it correctly.

There have been a number of featured grows with topped Mandala's. Blunted4Life had an extensive report on his topped Speed Queen's. Basically you get the same result with all of our strains: several large colas. However, there is no point in topping your plants for more yield if you don't veg them long enough or work with low-wattage, ie. below 400W/m2.
None of our strains perform less well if they are untopped!

Please post general growing questions in a sub-forum for grow techniques, or google for scrog manuals. ;-)

Thanks!
Mike

Alright, from my experience my white satin loved topping and produces nice full colas when topped.

Hashberry is better single cola, by far. Do not top hashberry.
