Hey, this is how i understand it works. Certain plants have a high and certain have a stone feeling from them but whatever plant you grow you can get a high off it if you harvest it at the right time. The thricomes(white little crystals covering the leaves and bud) are what determines this. When they are cloudy they produce a high feeling and when they are darker they produce a stoned feeling. This is due to a chemical call cannaboids. So if you get yourself a strong magnifying galss, about 10x, you'll be able to harvest them when they get to the desired maturity.
Sativas are the plants that get you high and indica types get you stoned but as far as i know if you harvest at the right time you can geta high feeling off indicas aswell. The problem with growing Sativas is that they grow very tall so are not suitable for indoor growing. Your best bet is to get an indica/sativa cross and then when they near the end of flowering be on the look out for the cloudy thricomes. As to what you should grow it really up to yourself. How much space you have, how long your willing to wait etc. I'm growing Northern Lights cos its small, with a good yield, potent smoke and quick flowering time, also its not really that hard to grow and takes a little abuse. I hope this all makes sense. If it doesn't ask again and i'll try to clear things up.I'm pretty new to growing aswell only been at it about a month but i've been reading up on it for about two or three.Your best bet is to get onto all those seed bank sites and read about all the differnt strains and make a list of the types you would like to grow. Then ask your grow shop do they have them and would they recommend them. |

Lots of people smoke good bud from their first attempts. Much more than in the past when lights and equipment werent as easily acquired. If u got urself a good light, some good soil and good ventilation you're sorted unless u start pissing around with nutrients that arent needed. Other than that just make sure u transplant into new pots before they get rootbound and ur laughin.
Im presuming your growing in soil, which is, eh, a bit presumptuous.

The Alchmist gave a good reply there on trichs and how to judge when to harvest.
If u want a real heady high maybe try a Haze, but you could be looking at 12 weeks for her to flower fully. I hear NL is relatively easy to grow too, so prob a good place to start. I think its pretty indica dominant though, so keep an eye on those trichcomes. |
