Nev's Haze x Mango....0 germ rate
Man this is killing me.
I tried to germ out 7 of these beaners , and after 48 hours ....nothing, no split seed , no tap root. I don't know what's going on, I do it the same way every time and I never have a problem.I just put them in a shot glass of distilled water and usually within 24 hours I have tap root showing. Is it possible maybe these seeds are old? I'm still holding on to the hope maybe they'll start doing something today. Got my fingers crossed. |

I have the same ones lying here, but haven't been trying to germ them yet. I heard low germ-rates appear quite frequently with Mr. Nice seeds so I'm pretty curious about what I'm in for as well.
I think a stable climate is even more important for old seeds to germ than it is for fresh seeds. I found the back of my refrigerator is a very stable place as far as temperature is concerned. Also I've read a few topics on this forum about germing old seeds and I remember someone adding an air pump to the glass of water the seeds were in. Together with the right temperature maybe this will give you some relief. Good luck and please keep us posted on your eventual results. Chances are I'll experience the same problem with these seeds, so I'd love to know if there's anything specific I can do to increase germination.

Old would not be a reason. The first batch were released early this year/late last year. Try using the paper towel method. It just never gives me a problem. Never had a single one of Shanti's beans not germinate this way. peace

I do think 48 hours is still quite early for a long flowering sativa to germinate.
From what I've read, is that in countries where these sativas grow, the seeds grow after a long rain season and grow throughout the dry season without much rain for them to feed on since there is much water in the ground for it. So I'd guess that with Hazes and long flowering sativas, you would need to make the seeds think that the monsoon season has just ended (long germination) tricking it to believe it is really time to grow.

. I'm letting go and see what happens. If nothing else I guess I'll have to throw the rest of the beans in and hope for the best. I have put the shot glass on a heating pad ...so ...hope it works.

i don't always get 'poppers' in glasses of water.
i've had 9/10 dp flo's germ when only 3 showed taproots after 72 hours of soaking. i put them all in the soil anyways.. and they made their way up. sometimes you have to take them OUT of the 'wet' environment for it to trigger.. you see.. like with the advice above about long rain seasons.. if the seeds popped right away they would be drowned in the following weeks of rain.. so they are programmed to wait until the rain is gone to get going..

Hopefully I'm just freakin' out over nothin'. It's just I have really high hopes for this strain. It will be my first Haze dominate strain I've done, I have heard all the hype , and I really want to experience it for myself , and the fact I THINK I'm already having problems is really frustrating me( I'm already in a shitty mood today anyway).
