ideas
Hi.
I am thinking about starting a grow. my space is 7 feet long 2 feet wide and 32" high. I am thinking about dividing the spaceinto a five foot section and a 2 foot section. the 2 ft section will be for mothers and clones. I am going to have 2 24" fluoro fixtures in this area. The intakes will be two dark room louvers in the biggest size I can get. The 2 ft section will be seperated from the 5 ft secton by a plywood wall. The five ft section is for flowering. There is going to be two 250w air cooled hps side by side with a 309 elicent pulling through the lights & pushing through a carbon scrubber. Questions: Do you think there is enough intake to let the fan run efficiently? What kind of intake do I need from the 2 ft section to the 5 foot section in order to allow enough airflow to cool the lights and let the fan run efficently. I plan on scrogging all of my plants. Please letme know if you have any ideas on how to get the most out of this space, and if you have any other ideas I might be able to use in my grow. Looking forward to your comments, and am psyched to finally get a chance to start this. Peace Goldfronts! |

you asked if there would be enough intake............but you never defined exactly how big your intake(s) would be. I think you should go with the 8"x8" louvres and use a couple of them if you're runnin 500w of hps in there. Make sure you make your veg space just a little wider than 2' just so you can account for the extra length of the 24" fluoros after mounting them.
you should consider mounting the carbon filter before the lights so that hot air isn't being pushed through the filter. carbon filters strat losing efficiency over 80 degrees F |

thanks for the input.
Making the mom area wider than two feet is going to be a good idea. I was thinking about getting one 400 instead of the two 250's due tomoney constraints, but I don't think it willcover the area in the flower room as well. what doyou guys think? also do you think the space I have available is workable? |

also, how do you completely seal lights so you can run a scrubber in front of them?

with an area that wide in such a short (height) space i think you should really stick with the two smaller lights. the 400 won't cover the area with that height restriction.
yes, the lights would need to be completely sealed. have you thought about just cooltubing them? im sure u could still run the filter after the lights and be fine, just not as efficient |

I was thinking that cool tubes wouldn't distribute the light as well as aircooled reflectors.
I have no experience with either, so any help in that area would help. Anyone have any ideas on sealing air cooled hoods, mainly where the glass and the hood meet? How much heat would two 250hps lights put off? Would a 309 elicent be enough to cool my space including the veg area? Thanks for your help Irishsoco. |
