hey, whats up buddy

Looks like you're off to a good start my man, would love to see some pics of Uganda! long way away from here.

You lucked out with that cabinet huh that looks like a pretty damn sturdy thing just to move clothes, looks like you've got much more dedicated movers than over here! i think they just threw all my clothes in a box haha.

You're right about jigsaws, they're a pretty universally useful tool and easy to work with... i'd love one if it wouldn't arouse suspiscion amongst the neighbours but I guess thats what I get for living in an apartment!

Great selection of strains you have there, Northern Lights is known for having a particularly low odour most of the time - i'd go with that if you're concerned. I've grown it out before and while it definately does smell of weed i'm sure it'd be possible to control the smell (read: cover it up) easier than say a skunk variety.

Nice stockpile of computer fans, looks like you've got the ventilation requirements sorted out.

keep us posted man, i'm going to follow this grow like a hawk so you better do good! just kidding man, stay cool.

yeah got really lucky with the cab. its relatively sturdy but its quite wobbly. after its gona be covered up its gon b sturdy as hell!!

i think in you appartment you could work with a jigsaw depending on the hours you have it in operation. like from bout 10am to 5 pm, something like that. it would disturb the neighbours less i think.

Was thinking bout the Northern Lights, i also heard it is a low odor strain, though i thought the others might have been good candidates too but oh well..

yeah i know, i gots mad fans. in senegal i was studying computer maintenance and the computer lab had a lot of pc power supplies that did not work so i stripped the fans from them.

will prob update in a day or too when they'll be a bit more to show. i think this is going to be my best cab yet. get ready to be amazed and in awe!! LOL.

cheers..
grow well and grow hard...
Give one of the other strains a try mate, you just never know - you might run across a particularly low odour phenotype and hit the jackpot, or you might be able to construct some sort of carbon filter - activated charcoal can be found at aquarium and pet shops if you have anything like that near you, if not you can always find some way of covering up the smell, you mentioned growing some herbs nearby to me - why not give that a shot if you're wanting to try some of those other strains.

NL is some excellent smoke though, you wont be dissapointed with it

hey,

i think for this run ima just do 1 strain, the other strains will be tackled in the future grows. it will simplify a lot of things. looked at a pet shop in a shopping mall near ma house and they had neither activated carbon nor the cat litter thingy. will keep looking around though. there are a lot of stove hood ranges used here, i'll look for a shop that sells replacement filters. yeah the herb thing is something i planned to do. have a big bush of rosemary in the garden, right now i have two cuttings of the plant in my homemade bubble cloner. gonna grow them in the main cab. gonna let you know how that works out when the babies gonna be growing.

ma project has come to a standstill atm, the wood i salvaged from the move is not long or big enough to cover the main box so i'll need to go buy some.

cheers

HAPPY NEW YEARS everyone!!! all the best for 2007!!!

a lil update...
been busy n wasnt able to work on my box...

but now the project can go on...

pic 1: i cut out two 1.5cm/0.6in wide slots for the two vertical panels of the stealth box out of the bottom 10cm/4in w strip of wood at the back of the reclycled main frame..

pic 2: i cut a piece of wood to cover the bottom of the main frame then made 4 7cm/2.8in high blocks of wood to raise the box of the floor as my ventilation will be takin place at the back of the box. . i fixed that all up with glue and nails.

pic 3: when the glue was nice and dry i proceeded to cut out the vents for the main box. they are 3cm/1.2in w x 40cm/16in

pics 4, 5, 6: after that i cut two 5cm/2in w x 40cm/16in l pieces of wood to go on each side of the cut slots which i glued and nailed as well.

pic 7: i then cut out two 68cm/27.2in l x 25cm/10in w pieces of wood to be the side walls of my stealth room they havent been fixed in yet..

pic 8: cut out a 45.5cm/18.2in l x 13.5cm/5.4in wood to complete the floor of my stealth cab.

pic 9,10: show how the rest of my puzzled floor is going to be assembled. in pic 9 the piece of wood is 48cm/19.2in l x 25cm/10in w and as you can see in pic 10 i left a 1.5cm/0.6in opening for my stealth cag door to slide into.

pic 11: i cut a panel 48cm/19.2in l x 25cm/10in w to use as the roof of my cab. i left a 1.5cm/0.6in gap here as well to allow the door to slide up and down.

pic 12: i cut a panel 45.5cm/18.2in w x 66.5cm/26.6in l for the back wall of the cab

pic 13: gives a visual idea of how im going to cut my door and the two vertical sides as to allow the door to slide up and down with ease...

pic 14, 15: i also cut out 6 10cm/4in w x 125cm/50in long pieces of wood to use at the back of the box fo ventilation.

well dats all 4 now.

cheers

ventilation question

ventilation question
hey guys...

ive got a question regarding ventilation. my exhaust fan diameter is 16.4cm/6.5 in. the area of the fan is 211cm2/34 in2. i want my intake to be 2x the exhaust so the intake has to be 422cm2/68in2.

what would be better, should i?

1. cut out a single big rectangular intake hole

or

2. cut out 3-4 smaller rectangular/circular intake holes

or

3. cut out many small circular intake holes

the possible pros and cons of each would be greatly appreciated.....

cheerz

Hey alkbud! long time no see, my internet is acting up right now so hopefully this works.

I would think it makes no appreciable difference what shape/number the intake holes are, there might be some sort of advantage with circular holes causing less turbulence and thus air noise than a rectangular hole but i'm not too sure about that.

The one advantage I can think of a rectangular hole is that it would be easier to cut to the exact size, you might have trouble finding the correct size/number of hole saws to cut circular holes and end up with the right amount of area across them... a rectangle would be easier to get the area dead on.

happy belated new year and peace.
