300W CFL any good?

These things look like they would work great for veggen out moms or clones/ I wonder if they get hot or if they come in warm spectrums.

I've grown with a similar 200W variety and it works fine, just a little bit brittle as Hybridtek says. I used a 6400K for veg and switched to a 2700K for flower. Plants grew very nicely under that 6400K, short node-distance and vivid green leaf colour. I can definately recommend this light for vegging, although the light itself is emitted from a central point with these large CFL's. It will still emit a considerable amount of heat which will be more evenly dispersed when using regular T8 or T5 fluoro tubes. So yes, they work great but there are more roads that lead to Rome... If height is an issue I'd prefer tubes over one big CFL.

...or many smaller, cheap CFLs... you can get four packs of 23w CFLs here in northern california for $1!!! subsidized by PG&E i think... and if one dies.. who cares. just screw in another one. I have a row of six in my vegbox, plus a 65w flourex (the last of six original flourexes, all the others having since died off....)

this shows my vegbox lighting:

if you can get the proper color spectrums and rid the erea of the heat that will be produced yes they should work fine how many moms would this be for. i use 45w=150 warm @ 2900 lumens 2700k and 25w=100w daylight@ 1470 lumens 5000k 280w worth. if i run all of it i see very nice fast growth i flower w/400w hps but veg with cfl's and start clones/seedlings under fluros.

chit forgot the most important thing make sure that bulb is for a screw in mogul not a twist and turn 1
