Cannabutter 3 hours or 30min?
I have been making cannabutter for about a year now, I usually cook at least 3 hours until it gets that glossy look.
Now I was the youtube the other day and they have a video on making cannabutter they only cooked it for 30 then strained. They used only bud they called it "Mega Butter". Now before I going of doing a side by side comparison does anybody know if there is really a difference when you cook for 3 hours or 3 min. i always say longer is better. i think the more patients you have and more effort you put into something the better it will come out. it usually takes me about 3 hours to make cannabutter... chop and steep the plant matter for about an hour and then add the butter simmer for another hour.. then add a few grams of powdered buds and simmer for another hour or so then strain and let sit... comes out better everytime. really its personal preferance but if your gonna do something y not do it right?
good luck Endo

I got a batch of butter and a batch of Olive Oil that is on its third day in the crock pots. I just boil, bring to room temp and keep repeating a few times each day. Gets stronger and stronger.

You can cook it for 3 minutes in butter or 3 seconds in already hot butter. 3 Hours to 3 days, and you should have alot of converted cannabinoids for a tired dreamy effect. But also, just 3 seconds will render it fully useful and lessen the THC breakdown giving less drowsiness. But hey, 3 days is great to make some bedtime treats. Great to experiment with different sativa to Indica ratio'd bud as well. Sounds like people are having fun, good luck with your recipes.
3 days = drowsy, let us all know how yours turns out. Good medicine. |

Hey guys,
I found an old article in Heads magazine for making heady Baklava, which obviosuly calls for cannabutter. The recipe for the cannabutter is pretty simple: 1:9 ratio of dried, ground trim/buds to butter melt butter in slow cooker and add trim/bud and let sit for a few days. This seems too simple...any other methods? What is this "steeping" process? I only have 14g of high quality, potent trim but will add a few more grams of ground buds. I want to make as much medicinal treats as possible with this amount, any suggestions for recipes? Thanks, WMB |

i do 3 hours on lowest setting and it gets all black and glossy. stovetop method with 2 cups of water, 2 sticks of butter and whatever i throw in it.. maybe 1/8 straight dank.. maybe 1/4.. maybe a cup of vaped crumbs and a few grams of various dank strains.. i haven't gotten to experiment with pure sativa vs. indica batches as yet but that may be fun.
my problem is with the tiredness. i remember having energy when i was young.. i could fight that feeling and keep myself going with the extreme body high. but now i just always get very sleepy and pass out. everytime. i think i'm going to try to make weaker concentrations with some purer sativa or sativa dominant strains.. and see how that does.
