Bacardi 151 tincture
I use stoner/eyeball measurements mainly with my cooking, as any good cook should be able to do after some experience. So with that being said please bear with me, and if you have improvements please jump in.
I will walk through two different recipes in each step, there is my XXX suicide mix or the rational person mix. Your pick. ***WARNING*** Before going any further with the process understand that 151 bacardi is flamable and this recipe does call for the heating of the liquid/cannabis mix. ONLY use heat sources that DO NOT USE OPEN FLAME. Please take caution when doing this and if at all possible do it outside or near a very well ventilated window, door or both. Hot plates work great 1) Have a few one quart mason jars on hand. If you are a true stoner and dont have some mason jars, kick yourself in the ass and go walk your sorry butt to any grocery/harware store/ crafts store and buy a pack of 12 for like ten bucks. its worth it. XXX-I used one half-gallon mason jar 2) Have one to two 750mL bottles of 151 on hand XXX-you will need two bottles to fill the half gallon jars just right 3) Prepare your product: for a one Quart mason jar sized batch use any of this measurement: -1/8 to 1/4 of ounce of A+ Bud finely ground bud flowers -one ounce of A+ trim, "sugar leaves" -one ounce to two ounces of secondary trim/small buds/some leaves/stems etc mixed together XXX- I used two and half ounces of A+ ground bud flowers for the half-gallon mix 4) Fill all the product in the jar and pour 151 until 1.5-2 inches from the top XXX- I only put two ounces in at this point the other half ounce I put in during a second cooking cycle. Fill to the top with 151 5) Set up heating apperatus, outside if possible, please see warning above about heating*. Use some kind of 'double' boiler, or just make sure the jar isn't resting on the bottom of the pan. I set them on two wooden spoons and boiled. The idea is to get the contents of the mason jar to boil, which will , take some time and please monitor, if you want to be super safe a fire retardant close by. Don't let the temp of the mason jar get over 100Celcius. let the mason jar come to a boil for 5-30 minutes, then bring temp to low for another half hour, then kill the heat and let stand in water and cool to room temp. place, do not screw, the lid on top, once heat is OFF. Once at room temp place in fridge to cool complete so everything sets for a bit. You can let is sit and get more and more potent or cook it again and add more product. If you want you can just filter it right now and consume. XXX- I let my batch sit over night and shake it up every now and then before I cooked it. After I did my first cooking as stated above, I let it cool , then added the other half ounce. I let that sit over night, while shaking then cooked it again the next day. then let that sit again for a few days while shaking periodiclly and heat again, cool, chill and serve or just serve it before cooking again. 6) after you have let everything cool and let it sit long enough for your preference, then you can filter it. Use a PASTRY CLOTH not a CHEESE CLOTH, easy to mix up bc many cannabis recipes ask for cheese cloth. 7) Once it is filtered it should be 100% free of all product and the original color of 151. 8) SERVE VERY SMALL DOCES UNTIL YOU KNOW ITS STRENGTH, AND PLEASE DONT DRIVE BC IT STILLS HAS BOOZE AND IT WILL BE EVEN STRONGER THEN 151 BC SOME OF THE WATER IN THE 151 GOT COOKED OFF DURING COOKING. PLEASE BE SAFE. I hope all this makes sense, if any one has questions, tips, improvements etc please post. thanks dj highst |

is the boiling point of alchohol higher or lower than water? i tried this in one of those electric wok type things with a plug in heating element and it heated up for over 30 min and still would not boil. its been strained and sitting for about a week now, should i try and reboil it or should it be good as is?

sorry for not replying right away, I didn't see your post. Yes its its a little harder to bring the the alcohol to a boil, but if you dont get the tincture all the way to the boiling point it OK, as long as you can get it as hot as you can it will help to activate some of the THC.
I hope you are heating it outside if you are using 151 or anything stronger. I just bought a (40 cup) coffer urn, that I am going to start using for large batches of tinture. It heats the water (alcohol) and mixes it with the cannabis and it even filters with coffee filters. You could just let it cool and just serve right out of the coffee urn. Pretty damn cool it it works and I really hope it does. Good luck with your tincture. give us some more updates. peace dj.highst |

ya you could boil it again if you want. If you want to make it really strong add some more cannabis after you filtered out the first batch, then add some more fresh cannabis then reheat. If you want to help it bring to a boil try to cover the crock pot, but dont restrict the air on top of the tincture bc the 151 is flamable and you dont want it under pressure. If you can cover the pot without covering the jar, thats the way to go, but you might have to be creative with this.

all my recipes are adapted from:
The Marijuana Handbook by Bill Drake Marijuana Gold-Trash to Stash by Ed Rosenthal Marijauna Cooking- Good Medicine made Easy -by Bliss Cameron Veronica Greene I have over forty books on Growing, Cooking, Making hash, Marijuana Chemistry, and "Gallery Books" I have no need to steal info from people on this page. I should have given credit to these sources in my recipe, but I just forgot. Thanks for noticing the similarites, but my ratios are way different and I think neither one of us came up with it, so I think neither of us get credit for shit. We just copied other peoples good ideas and posted it here, so neither one of our heroes. |

I unfortuantely have not had the priviledge of reading any of those books, been making this stuff for years now though (just good old fashion trial & error!) Anyhow the only reason I posted my recipe in the first place was simply to document it, as no one Ive ever shown it to had ever heard of anything like it... so I figured Id share it! So I am not taking credit for the concept of the tincture, far from it. I just noticed a few similarities in instruction & methods used. Not a big deal though. I am actually delighted that more & more people are becoming aware and intested in tinctures (as that was the motivation behind my original post) No hard feelings (theres enough tincture for everyone!!)
