my lifesaver which has been flowering for 10 days now has presented what looks like rust on the edges of the big fan leaves! I dont know what it is and I hope to god its not mold. Never seen this before any help out there??

Without benefit of pics, and given that you are in day 10 of flower, and also given that LS is a fast finishing variety....first thing to come to my mind is Potassium (P) deficiency which is indicated by rusty brown leaf margins. What kind of flowering nutes and at what strength are you applying the nutes? PH?

There will be lots of people telling you it's some sort of deficiency, and it very well may be... But usually these types of things are a result of one of a few miscalculations, that are usually quite simple to rectify.

Rust spots eh? Our ak47 used to do this when there was a lack of nitrogen in early flowering. First the leaves gloss over and go dark green, then the stems redden up a little, then the leaves start to yellow. Ak 47 and other strains react differently to their problems, some of them get those rusty spots on the leaves after such a problem. Again, Nitrogen deficiency isn't necessarily the problem here - But it's always the problem here when we cut the n back too soon. We keep plenty of n in the mixture until mid flowering, then we switch to a full-fledged flowering nutrient to finish things out...

Pics of the sick lady will surely help... But it sounds like simple n deficiency. Which-by the way-can be caused by improper pH just as easily as it can be caused by a physical lack on nitrogen. A high or low pH will make 40 kilos of nitrogen unavailable to the plant, even though it's physically there...

Whenever we have a problem, this is what we do... FLUSH with a mild nutrient solution. Run it over the roots slowly, taking about 3-5 minutes per plant, stopping from time to time to allow the water/solution to redissolve the salts that have crusted onto your medium and the roots themselves. The longer you drag out the flush, the better it will be.

After the flush is done, remix your nutrient solution and begin as usual again. The effects will take up to a week to show themselves, but we are farmers, not stock brokers, and the results of our actions require patience to realize

Well, there you have it....CC says possible N deficiency and I come up with possible P deficiency. LOL This is why pics are so needed so that a better understanding of what's really going on can be made.

I read 'rust on the edges of the big fan leaves'....to me that's P, even though I would think that proper nutes were being given, seeing that it's in flower now, but what we think...and what someone is doing, can be two different things.

I do also agree that CC's diagnosis is possible....but pics would sure help out!

*edit* by the way I am using pureblend pro flowering with a drop of superthrive and pureblend grow. I have been adding nutes every 4 days... not with every watering... maybe I show give more nutes.. Also two days ago I noticed the same fan leaves got very dark and glossy...

superthrive in flower? i hear that messes with things a bit though you are only at ten days
i also thought superthrive was strong stuff to be used a few times during veg rather then every feeding.
not sure if that is your problem at all but just thought id throw it out there cause usually see this said when superthrive is mentioned.

I would back off the Superthrive as well. I think it's growth and rooting hormones screw with the process when combined with your regular feeding schedule.

I use Superthrive only in the seed soaking and sprouting process. I rely in the Pure Blend and Cal-Mag in veg and Pure Blend, Cal-Mag, Silica Blast and Top Max in flower.

I think if Superthrive were the only nute being used you wouldn't have any problem but when you stack'em it seems to reject it a little

OHH please tex! thanks for your response and you do have a busy life outside of IC! although its very sweet to know your always there for me even on rainy days... no more superthrive with my nutes and I am gonna order up some bonticare nutes to rectify this deficiency (bab speeler today ) issue.

Not an expert like the others who have responded already, Friendly... But in support of CC's pH suggestion, I ran over to this thread that I've been studying on another forum, and snagged this image:



Maybe check your pH, and take that into consideration... The nutes your ladies require may be there, but getting blocked by an out of range pH.
