I would have to disagree respectfully. With all the hybrids on the market, its hard to fathom mj not being more potent-afterall, is that not the goal of breeding, to improve the stock? I too was smoking in the 70's (30 years this last October) and while the thai sticks and AG, Pr,CG, and so on, the high was good but I think todays mj is stronger as in stonier. The landraces we enjoyed were sativa and that is a different high then the sativa/indica hybrids so prevalent now. Therein lies the difference in my opinion. minds_I

Landraces........grown in their native habitat! It is not just the plant but the enviroment, the soil. you cannot get that again with a gold bar. It is not possible. It shall only live in our memorys.

Hello all,
Yes POMH, it got me stoned then- it goets me stoned now. Well, moose, I don't know if that tracks- see, I presume that all that brick weed is just general stock with infinite possible genetic profiles in any given field. Now, when we speak about thai stick- it really should be eliminated because of the opium wash. So, here we are in the states- In the 70's I was a sailor in the USN. I was stationed in many places but San Diego was the spot for pot. Anyway, we would also get that Jamaican brought in on shipsas well as Asain weed. Of course Mex was everywhere. I think the landrace qualities are what we remember- as I mentioned when going from a sativa to a pure indica the difference was quite unique. Now, its like smoking a mix of sativa and indica with all the breeding. And, to futher point out my thoughts is if you ever had the strain Trainwreck you will know that its som eof the best. But then again, there are plathora of killer strains. Anyway, not trying to start a pissing match, to tell you teh truth, I uwould love to have some old school thia or Acapolco Gold. To think of all those lovely beans that popped in the bowl. Makes me want to cry. minds_I

Hello Moose.
Agreed- the government does indeed skew results to thier benefits -well- gee, look at Iraq, but I digress. Also, testing methods have changed and I wonder if that is reflected in the new data? Keeping samples from teh 70's is problematic at best due to chemical breakdown with time and environmental conditions. Since having any accurate standards is in question. I question the results. As for hash- well thats expected to have a higher THC content would it not by its very nature. I don't think they are taking aggragate smaples as a test for average potentcy. As you said, they would take the highest results- call it Gospel and shove it down our throats. Still, the buds in my stash jar are with out any doubt some of the finest herb I have had the privilage to smoke- and I got more growing int he cab. Since I started growing- my weed quality has improved exponentially. So, is the weed stronger?? Well, I can certainly say its better then it was when I was getting it off the street for nearly 28 years. And its dirt cheap- although the dirt itself is not. Buahahahaha. minds_I PS: Moose, after that last bong rip- I can unequivically say I have the best buds. What I mean is- in my stumblings through the threads here at IC and the now defunct OG that so many folks get caught up in the "Strain Game" Some of the best I have grown were un-named plants from Mendoceno county and un-intentional crosses. This is a Superskunk x NL#5- not intended, a male sneaked threw- it may even be hermed as I did get about 10 seeds out of 6 plants so far. This bud is completely dry it weights 2 grams- it is solid- this is some of the best I have grown so far and it is very very tasty and its an up high with some body high. Smokes well and is smooth. It burns to fine white ash ( I attribute this to organics-but I digress). I am thoroughly stoned. But I do remember the old school sativas- the wired buzz. I need to grow a sativa I think.
