ive read abotu it tons of times and read where to do it but was hoping someone would have a good pic that shows where..

Sorry Im no sproutco but this should help....

Diagram A shows the tradional method of topping: cutting the whole node off cleanly, to induce the stalk to split into two. But diagram B indicates to make the cut below the center of the node, leaving about 10% intact. This is the key, because the vegetation left behind has cells that are rapidly dividing in many different directions. This can lead to as many as EIGHT tops from a single pruning.

what do u consider a node? d you cont every shoot coming out of the stem or do ytou count the set as one...

Most people refer to a set when talking about how many nodes up on the plant. So yes cutting at the 3rd node would be the third set of nodes.

I wouldnt recommend FIMing too early but it is up to the grower. You can FIM at the 3rd node to encourage the plant to spread out. This is what I usually do when I intend to scrog. If the plant responds well to the FIM then she should create multiple budsites with a fairly even canopy.

thanks man thats what i was looking for...i think my plants have 3 nodes right now with the 4th sprinigng up and should be out in a few days...donna atempt to fim one of my two babies..in case i mess up or somehting

Sure bro.... good luck with your FIMin'.
You dont really have anything to worry about as far as messing up the cut. Apparantly the term FIM was discovered by a guy that was trying to top the plant but missed, hence the name FIM-"Fuck I Missed". So you really cant mess up too bad. Worst case scenerio is you have to top instead of FIM.

i just fimmed all my (hopefully) mother plants at the 9th node, and after only about 24 hours im starting to see some new growth at the top and underneath the nodes, the great thing about fim is that if you dont get it exactly right... you still did it right, it the degree of the cut could however make the diffrence between 3 new tops and 8 new tops... personally ive never gotten more than 5.

i'll FIM 1st time around 6-8 inchs tall approx 5-7 nodes i like to FIM this really increases the bud sites and plants branching

i will FIM my plants tonite. checked on em before work and the 4th node is looking ripe for it. will get some before and after pics for sure! i guess i need to start a diary maybe
