My Congo fems, just over a month from seed. Flipped them to 12/12 tonight. Very columnar, a bit of sweetness to the pungent smell but not too defined yet.

I decided to bring my tall gal down for a more even canopy. She was getting too close to the lights and the rest were too far away. She's got a very strong stem so I crushed it a bit, like supercropping, so she wouldn't snap and then some LST to hold her down.

Heat can sometimes be a factor in bud density, but Congo is after all a strain with a heavy tropical sativa lineage so its not surprising some plants will have sativa structured airy flowers.

I've always wondered why people like dense flowers. They tend to be mold magnets and it has absolutely no positive effects other than maybe bag appeal if you are into that sort of thing. I suppose there is the illusion of potency since a bowl packed with dense buds weighs about twice as much as a bowl loaded with airy bud so if you don't weigh your dosages the dense bud can seem stronger since you are smoking twice as much of it in every bowl.

For those who like dense buds, what is it that makes you prefer them?

Dense buds are the bane of my existence.
Most of the time they aren't properly processed, leaving a half wet Little Rock that cannot be ground up by hand.
On a few, rare occasions I've had some very nice looking bud, just to break it open to mold and little cobwebs everywhere.
It was rather disgusting.
At least this is the case in california.

Hi CanadaDank,

Guess you got a Congo #3 pheno, it's the congolese parental plant that contributes with floral, citric and sweet carrots aromas.
This pheno also produces the most electric and uplifting effects in our Congo strain. Glad you like it

You can easily find this pheno again in current Congo releases.

Hi jackel,

Sorry to hear it. Congo is not our strain with densest flowers, but with proper light intensity, proper feeding and correct temps rarely produces fluffy airy buds as you have experienced.

Could you let us know how were the growing variables in your greenhouse in flowering stage ?

Hey, dubi, they're moving right along. Sweet floral and fruity aromas are really coming on strong.

Main buds and popcorn.
