Easy hydroponics 101
I'm doing this as a request for a member here...
You can use any size container you choose...I use the 32 ounce tumbler cups and cut many large holes in the bottom to keep the roots from clogging the drains...I also cut a few on the side for backup...All the systems will drain back into the self-contained sump if there is an overflow in the planting container.. I use an aquarium powerhead to pump the water to the containers..You can pick up the raindrip or similar products from home improvement stores like Lowe's or Home Depot.. 1/2 inch poly from the pump and then the little 1/4" from the half inch main line to planting containers.. I also use a continuous flow instead of drippers or timers..It's always flowing and producing lots of oxygen through breaking the surface of the sump water... You can get all the little fittings to customize your system to your personal preference.. Pics to help out... |

Hi ya CC great thread ! I have on equick question you you, "Did you mod those powerhead pumps?" I just happen to have a few laying around and hadn't thought about using them like that. Have you tried the eight head dripers with those pumps. That and a five gal. bucket would work awsome in a veg room !! Then throw them in my WF's

Yea Skunky
I pop the water director/deflector off and push a piece of clear tubing over the whole exhaust and then push a piece of the 1/2" black poly line in there... The individual lines come off of the 1/2"........ I'll take a pic and post it of the [pump and lines.......... |

Here ya go.......
First pic shows the individual lines coming out of the 1/2 inch poly... 2nd pic shows the clear tubing going over the exaust of the pump and the 1/2 poly connection..(you can heat the clear tubing in hot water to make it stretch) 3rd pic shows how I fold over the line and put a tiestrap on there to end the system... 4th pic shows the whole pump unit.. Take care and I hope that helps..... |

WOW I love it !! Im digging out my poerhead pumps now hehe I like the idea of NOT having to use the driper heads (less money to spend) Man you can make a hydro set up out of any thing Im love the 5gl buckets, I just happen to have a ton of those too. Doing the way you did (punching the holes in the tube) you could do as many dripers as the pump will handle. hmm hane you tries making a drip feed cloner in the 5gl buckets? like maybe 15 or so 2" net pots? Thanks CC your the man, man !!ps do you have any problems with leaks. I wouldnt think so sence the pump is so low pressure.

heya SkunkyDemon,,
You can power up to 15 plants with 1 powerhead... The powwerheads I use come from walmart(aquarium supplies) and cost around $15.00 They put off vitually no heat...You cannot use these for a cloner..It does not have enogh pressure to to power sprayers/misters....Or even spinners.. But for a easy to use hydro system they cant be beat with the no heat pumps and their versatility can't be beat!! I have grown monsters in 5 gallon buckets with just a single plant... Good luck woth your project...The only limitation is your imagination................... ....CC |

Nice thread mate.
I saw a pic of someone doing a hydro grow in a pair of wellies( wellington boots to any1 who doesnt know what wellies are) lol...ill try to scan it on from weed world that its in. I love all these cheap easy hydro setups... I put something very similar together for my hashberries Works a treat, heres those Hb's now I love DIY. These threads really show folks that hydro doesnt have to be a huge investment of cash and super complicated.... Be lucky mate
