New Message from DJ Short
Aloha Cannabis Community
A long overdue hello to all here. Sorry about my lack of input, but suffice it to say I have been beyond busy. I do get the opportunity to check in here once in awhile and I am very impressed with all of the successes I am witnessing. Good job! I’m amazed at how many of you master growers are becoming master photographers as well– gdawg61's True Blue and f13; jingles’ Blue Sat; HashAssassin’s Flo grow cabinet; kanebosem’s Black Highend; EpheDrone25's mutant Ultimate Moonshine; S_&_H’s Flodica; Swerve’s True Blue; icysurfer’s True Blue; Elevator Man’s Flo breeding project (if possible vacuum seal pollen that is as fresh as possible before freezing–cutting with flour is fine) and groer’s Grape Krush are all amazing. I also recall some significant posts by TORC and JLP. Thank you people for jobs really well done, and keep up the good work. Special notice go out to ‘HOT CARGO’ and ‘perhaps’. HOT CARGO, those photos of the True Blueberry and the bubble-mud shots are outstanding–truly professional. ‘perhaps’, those are some of the most incredible clear-dome, full-melt shots I have ever seen! What is your bubble method? I’m assuming that the clear-dome is from fresh headies? Anyhow, thanks to both of you for the truly remarkable photos and please keep them coming. I don’t want to leave anybody out, but I’m sure I must have, so sorry to anyone I may have overlooked (only able to search a few pages back into the forum right now). All of your posts are useful and appreciated. Thank you, one and all. I’d also like to thank all of those who posted on my behalf regarding a few certain troll-ish incidents that ended up getting attention and one good thread locked (‘my true blue experience’ posted by the lorax–thank you lorax for the post and sorry the thread got locked). I appreciate the support from the community, thank you. The only advice I can render regarding similar situations is please, do not feed the trolls. If someone has a legitimate concern or complaint there are proper channels and protocol to follow. Once again, the first thing to be concerned with is: where did the seeds come from? The first place to contact with a concern or complaint would be the vendor/distributor from whom the seeds came. If the vendor/distributor does not offer satisfaction then contact Red, either here or at www.legendsseeds.com. Complaints regarding most of our strains are rare, but we are very concerned with each individual’s satisfaction. We also appreciate input regarding how our strains react to various environments, growth characteristics, structural and aesthetic anomalies, etc. I have no problem with civil discourse, I very much appreciate it. However, if someone has an agenda, axe-to-grind, ulterior motive (usually some form of spam or self-promotion) or whatever grandiose intent, and you seek to set your podium upon pre-established and professional coattails, then please, at least have the common decency to respect the coattails from upon which you choose to boast. Thank you. Regarding the anomalies witnessed in some of the Blue Family lines, these are merely normal and harmless irregularities witnessed from the transgressive segregation of two very different P1's. I have written a bit about anomalies and their ratios in an article here; https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=9787 , and will post another article on the subject of diversity via transgressive segregation here soon. FYI the Dutch Passion Blueberry stock (50 seeds) was the identical stock used for the True Blue (>200 seeds). I did not do any selection on the Dutch project except for finished product analysis, but I assume that they did not select any individuals with leaf anomalies. I hope that helps clear up some of the questions regarding differences between these varieties and their overall selection. Of other interest is a great thread in the breeders’ forum called: "Revival of the Ultimate Sativa Thread", by motaco (thank you motaco). In it are some good posts and photos regarding equatorial sativa. Tip-of-the-hat to both zamilito and la mano negra for their posts and photos–bringing back some good memories there folks–gracias amigos. I think that the at-least-semi-commercial revival of some great sativa is close at hand and some of you seem to be on the right track. I am very curious how the strains; ‘Johnny Blaze’, ‘F13', ‘Highend’ and ‘flo’ would do at more equatorial latitudes. Particularly any of those strains grown out, in-line crossed (filial), and the f1's of those filial-crossed and grown out to do selections of from their f2 line, in the equatorial environment, would be very interesting, indeed. If you would like some samples to try, please let us know and we will see what we can do, eh? Best to all and kind regards. Take care and have fun. dj ciao, amigos.

I don't wanna sound like a troll but RED didn't do shit for me when he saw my True Blueberry & Grape Krush turn out like shit on the thread going over at OG. It was in that big thread that advertised your new strains with those pics JLP had. GK had 8 males, 1 mutant so mutated it wouldn't grow over 8" and 1 female. TB was a little better, got 3 females, 1 seed that didn't sprout, 1 seed that did sprout and it died with just a tail sticking out, and the rest males. Be honest I've had better seeds that were ALOT cheaper. So I don't see how you could say "we are very concerned with each individual's satisfaction. And there were pics I posted in the thread and I asked for RED's help and got NONE. So I have to call BS on the you care about the customer part! Just my 2cents

DJ - great to hear from you at last and glad to know our efforts haven't gone unappreciated either! I hope you're reassured by folks' attempts to at least take your work on to more personal, specific phenos - I remember reading your tip that there were many undiscoverd gems residing in the Flo line, and decided to take up the challenge - so far I'm totally enthused for the strain. I'll be freezing up all the pollen this weekend, keeping two wraps back for the Flo females in a few days time.
Incidentally, my friend who grew out the purple Flo to large proportions here in the UK is an annual visitor to Jamaica. He brought some seeds back from 'Jamaican Highend'. which he smoked whilst over there and grew them out over here - the main one was a very columnar plant, faintly similar to Flo in structure, but with very long-bladed leaves, all forward-pointing at maturity. I have a mother of this now, though haven't flowered it yet. I plan to cross a clone of this shortly with the Flo males, and then I hope he can take some seeds back with him to Jamaica in March and gift them back to the grower - I doubt I'll ever see the results, but it's nice to do a genetics swap with the Caribbean, via the Flo! Good to hear you keep up with progress, many, many thanks for your genetics and writing, and good luck with all future projects - I await with anticipation. Best wishes. Right on DJ,glad to hear you are getting to see what the folks here are doing with your gear.
Nice job on the forward in the CB3. Hey Red,here's a couple shots of that Stilton you gave me.It finished around 65 days, pretty stony weed, nice solid buds, kind of a fruity/vinegary smell.Pretty good yeild too. JLP |
