LUI Growth Characteristics...

Have been reading about the Lui for quite some time..Finally sent off an order..Hope that goes well !!! Been growing the same strains for a long time and making a change is a big step !! I would appreciate any good info by exp. growers on, how long to sex, plant height,Odor-veg and flowering,yield,potency..any little tid-bits other than the generic catalog descriptions. There have been only a few strains out there that seem to have what I'm looking for...The one thing I'm very excited about, is the 'Minimal' stretch @ the flip...comments on this would be great !!!Oh yeah, and how well does it do in the Great Outdoors??? Will she make it outside by 1st week of Oct @ 48 D.North? Indoor methods are Organic soil in 5gal. containers under 2 1000w Hortilux..Outdoor,20 gal holes organicsoil under the sun..haha !!! Thanks...

This is truly the ideal strain imho for pure floral structure.....a big column of tightly-packed buds with extremely short internodes:

(courtesy of steppenwolf from og)

The buds are packed in such a way that there is a perfect balance so that
one particular bud will not grow to an exaggerated size and break the stem...
Even though mold issues aren't generally reported with this strain, it always
helps to have more than enough ventilation (imho atmosphere is the key to flower development....)

As with any plant, you should wait one moon cycle (28-30) days for the plant to reach adulthood....this is kinda a general rule and not strain-specific
(Reeferman said this)....

I would love to see your results both indoor and outdoor.....hopefully more
people will chime in here with the info you are looking for, but you should find
lots of LUI threads around here, as LUI is a very well-tested strain....

kind regards from a guineapig

Imo..Great strains go both WaYS..

I tend to think a really good strain should be able to do what god intended..grow outside.I know it's not possible at all latitudes..but it always gets my attention if they can.I really enjoy my outdoor girls!! What we've had indoors is really not the best senerio..plants that jst get way too tall genetically. We always joke that we need a taller ceiling or a deeper floor...we know the answer though...Different genetics. From what I've seen and read,I'm really hoping the LUI answers our prayers.Somebody posted the most beautiful red=tinged mature lui I've ever seen..either here or the old OG...wHAT A STUNNING specimen..I can see her NOW...!!!

Hey Skunk...not sure if you are still checkin this or not but here's my first run with LUI and I bought the strain for the same reason. from 15 seeds I only got 4 females I took clones from those and watched which ones stretched..2 stretched a little and 2 didn't move an inch...have a look...as I say ...this is a first go with them but under floro's they seem to be promising...cheers and good luck

Hey Bonz..I..

I looked at you're cab..NASA would be proud.I've never had any Genetics that would stay short enough for cab-style grows..haha.But I JUST got my LUI beans after a short 3week wait..So I'm really excited about the new prospects..and ofcourse I'll be doing a outdoor run with the Lui aswell. The photos of the few outdoor grows i've seen looked very impressive..hope she has a ''Smack-Down'' stone to boot...Cheers !!!

A few things about stretch. It is a physical reaction called etiolation, provoked by the absence of light, and occurs in all strains. But in some, the stretch is minimal, and a plant will not grow taller than its genetic code allows it.
Personally, I would love if all strains stayed low and compact, because I do not want to grow but short, compact Indicas.
There are a few things you can do to minimize the stretch. Instead of flipping from 24/24 or 18/6 to 12/12 abruptly, do it successively over a one or two week period. Put your lights close to give maximum light saturation (unnecessary if you're already giving them 10 000 lux per square foot), increase the nutrient concentration, decrease humidity and temperature. I know some growers top their plants when flipping, causing a light stunt in the plant to slow down the stretch.

Moon or no moon, a plant that has reached sexual maturity will stretch less than an immature plant (it's related to hormone levels within), it will also yield better, and produce higher levels of THC.
(R.C. Clarke says this)...

I'm sure you'll be very happy with the LUI, which I hear is a great plant.

The LUI I grew was amazing...........Densest plant Ive ever grown.........

When trigger 12/12, it didnt stretch even under the outdoor sun..........and triggered imediately..........very fast to start budding..........finished very fast aswell..........
Thick dark green wide fingered fanleaves...........thick stems..............
Smells fabulous, tastes great and gets you ripped.........Odor in veg wasnt bad but at end of flower there is a grapefruit odor for sure...........Brought out in the cure, the flavor is unmistakable............
Yeild is top notch...........Massive flowers
Outdoors I would watch for mold problems............I live in a dry area so its not a problem for me but be careful in moister areas.............
Indoor my friend makes sure the humidity is low during flower cause this lady is so dense!

Do you really plant outdoors in October?
