Starting My First Grow
I am a long time smoker first time grower and I am trying to design a cabinet but dont know where to start. I would like to keep a mother to clip clones and constantly keep 2 plants growing. So far I have collected 2 150w HPS lights and a Co2 filters. I looked at the NGB micro box thread and want to build something similar to it but stealth isnt a huge necessity. I am going to grow with soil so I have a couple of questions. What is ample space to grow 2 plants in a box (approximate measurements would help) ? Could I grow 2 plants well with only 2 150W hps lights? What is fairly easy to grow indoor with soil? If there are any threads or links that anyone can help me out with my first grow I would greatly appreciate it.

I've had two plants under a 70W HPS and will do the same now under a 150. It should be no problem. As far as strains go, anything marked indoor ought to be able to be trained to behave under the space you'll have. you'll want to either SCROG or LST. I prefer LST.
If you copy the NGB box, re-do the exhaust and the air intakes. Have a look at my thread for one idea (duggy's super stealth desk). NGB's didn't get enough air going through. I have ample intakes on the bottom of both veg and flower chambers, and the veg exhausts into the utility which exausts out. flower chamber goes through a carbon scrubber and then out. separate will keep temps down. grow, baby. duggy

You can grow a lot more than 2 plants with a 150 hps.

It depends how long you want to veg. Take clones and put them into 12/12 soon and you can grow a bunch. Veg it out and grow one big plant. More plants sooner might be more productive, right? I can only speak from my 70W HPS grows thus far. I wouldn't want to have done more than two. I'm going to try two under my 150, too. I suppose I could get four, but my light footprint is only about 24 x 24 inches.

i grow 4 plants most every time in my cab with a 150hps....no problems at all
i just scrog the hell out of them duggy my cab's only 23" x 17" ... more plants = less veg still though i usually veg my girls for about a week or so while they get used to the stronger light so stilleo, you could probably do ten plants in a scrog with 2 150s or if you wanted to do a sea of green, you could probably do 20 or so. 4 plants 150 hps scrog.......23" x 17" |

Good luck with your grow, its a lot simpler if you start things up and learn as you go! Im growing 2 plants with a 200 watt envirolite, so a 150 hps should do 2 plants no porblem!

Good luck too. i am growing for the first time and i kept it kinda small. stop over and have a peek at my grow. might learn a few things, good or bad! if your going to go indoor-soil read up on soil type. i got some MG (Miracle Grow) and it didnt work like i thought it would. i feel now like i am running a hydro set up.every time i water i have to use ferts because my soil lacks them. A great thread to read is red greenerys lodge. good luck and if your plants have any problems ask sproutco he is a wiz at what plants need to become healthy again.

Thanks all for reply. They have helped me very much. I found out that the lights were not 2 150W hps lights but 2 100W hps lights. I also finally found something to start making my grow box. I found an old desk in my friends garage and took it apart (pictures comming soon) and its dimensions are: 29 inches tall, 15 inches wide, and 19 inches deep. I got my skunk #1 and white rhino seeds and I am wondering how many plants and what would be the best way to grow them (scrog or lst?) in the dimensions I have mentioned above. Also, if anyone has similar dimension I was wondering what kind of set up you have to cool your grow box. I am also wondering what would be the best size potting plant during flowering with the space I am given? Thanks again to everyone that replied and hope you can help me out with my new set of questions.

pot size?
Would anyone know how big my pots should be during seedling, vegetation, and to finish out flowering in the space I have listed in my previous post?
