Building my first bubbler setup...

Hello folks. I have some questions. I am currently building my first ever hydroponic setup, a bubbler. I haven't cut the air line hole or anything yet, but lets hear your suggestions on finishing this thing to be as best as possible. I do however have some questions...

Basic info: I am using an Elite802 dual output airpump. The pump is connected to 2 6'' airstones. The tub is a Sterlite 20 quart container bought from the local Wal-mart.

1) Is that enough bubbles?

2) If not, what would you recommend I do to switch?

3) Is it possible to make different lids with different holes and re-use the same bubbler for cloning/seedling/veg/flower?

Thats all for now. I'm prepping up to get this thing going. Am awaiting seeds

very doable, I have the 30 gallon sterilites from wal mart . Cool thing is , they have 2 tiny holes on the side that fits airline perfect. I have used my extra lid to veg in so far, works great.

If you use the 30 gallon ones, you have to brace the tubs because they bow out alot. I found 2 methods that work perfect, bungie cord across the top, or you can drill a tiny hole through lid and tub edge, and use a twist tie . both work well

You have plenty bubbles, you may wanna get a small water pump to help you drain it for nute changed, one thing i forgot before i ran outa money hehe

Looks good, just be sure to tape the tub so no light gets in. This keeps the roots and water from creating algea. Maybe go with black tubing also. Some say the clear lets some minor light in, but I don't think it matters too much. Just remember the bigger they get, the more bubbles you want to give them. They can never have enough bubbles!!
Remember to check your pH and PPM daily. Twice a day if possible. Let it float between 5.5 and 6.1 and go easy with the nutes at first. Trail and error is the best way to learn.

Good luck, ask any questions you have.

Re: Pictures

rollininoh: I don't mind changing the water manually. Is there any problems with taking the lid off, exposing the roots to air, and then putting them back in when finished?

HOG: I don't have a PPM tester, and my PH tester is the water based kind that I picked up for about 5$ at the local shop. I suppose thats something I should get after my first go around eh?

And thanks for the responses

EDIT Question:

Whats a good nutrient to start with? The guy working the local shop suggested FoxFarm Grow Big for vegetative growth. I already have that and am planning on using it, but what about for flower? I was recommended tiger bloom but as that is far away, I have not purchased it yet. My biggest preference is something that is easy, and something that I'll be able to learn hydro with. Having to mix and match 5 different types and alter them throughout the grow doesn't sound appealing yet. I'm a big KISS fan.

I actually used those photos and the thread you created about it (maybe on OG? I forget.) when creating mine.

i recomend GH floranova 1 part bloom nutes, easy 1 part that is PH buffered, so your ph wont fluctuate much at all.

Should be ok just try not to let them dry out too long, as dry roots equals dead plants quick

i say the nova

or pure blund pro

both ph out fairly good...... whit pbp it ph at 6.0 for me i never use nova but from what i hear it around the same you might need a lil ph down
(also for ph) set your water out 24 to 48 hours befor you use it
or it will rize right back up to 7.0 sometimes even 8 leaven it out will release chem's that are in tap water!

pH Level should be around this
Vegetation 5.8 - 6.3
Bloom 5.5 - 6.0

keep you r water cool.......2 liter's frozin work i dont know what light your using but by god keep the water cool

temperatures above 70° F (21° C) dissolved oxygen levels drop. In addition bacterial and fungal growth accelerates, depleting oxygen levels further. The solution becomes stagnant and root death begins. Too cool of a nutrient solution 62° F (16° C) or lower ca result in slow growth with poor nutrient uptake.

heres a pic of mine i use a 802 pump for aircurtens in side and same size dif brand for the water ring's
i use this for my moms
