Dots on the i....

hello IC

im prepairing for my first harvest... ive read some articles on how to go about and i must say i 'think' im up to date...but as alway i like some dots on my i
just to be shure about things.
i like to ask a couple of questions on the trimming matter.
should i trim straight after chop and dry or let it dry and then trim?
im starting to collect leaves but dont know if i can use them or not....
what part can i use (trim) for making hash or BHO?
can i use big leaves or small 1ce or just the trim of the tops

any tips i should know on how to go about ......feel free
want more info on my grow just push signature

I always like to trim and then dry, because if you do it in reverse, it is hard as hell to do it properly. As far as what trim to use to make Hash, BHO, ISO, etc., I just use all of it. Even those big fan leaves; there might be a couple trichomes that could add to the mix. Peace.

hello core
right off the bat i will respectfuly disagree with don about keeping and useing fan leaves for ANY type of extraction, unless there covered with resin of cource.....

umm if you cant see resin on the leaf dont bother, you will get more green slim then anything else and thats not what you want in the finished product...
also when it comes to dry hanging your plant make several up and down slits on all the stems this will help the drying process WITH OUT adding any extra heat.....
peace bro

yeah I would agree with jaws, tho keeping any resin covered trim is the way to go.

I trim just after harvest and I remove fan leaves and smaller non resinated leaves into one lot for butter. The trim with resin gets set aside for iso or ice. The rest should be buds with some small leaves or partly trimmed left for your cure

having a bit of leaf will add appeal when cured ..those crystals will sparkle and look very tatsty.... and I think also helps the curing process by adding time..they hold moisture and the cure is supposed to slowly dry your bud....

too much leaf tho could bring mould...got to get a balance.. and I think its one of those things you will get better at in time

I often trim 1/2 of a small leaf off and leave the rest or I leave the whole thing if its small.... basically what I can cut with my shears without busting up the bud in the process....this what it looks like after trim/cure

i wouldn't use ethyl alcohol myself...

but i haven't got anything to back that up really.

buy some 99 percent isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) from the drug store, it'd be less than 5 bucks.

hello core
ya trib does about the same as me pretty much.....

ok ISO at home very easy very cheap and if done correctly can kick that ass hard...

things you will need....

trim, small buds, try useing only stuff you can see resin with the naked eye..
atleast one GOLD coffer filter, regular ones will work but you will need a few of them....

one GLASS jar with lid....

one GLASS cake dish, square works better then round...

depending on how much ISO you want to make will determen how many bottles of 91% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol you will need to by....make sure you get 91% it has the RED lable and it like $1.00 a bottle at wal-mart....

one razor for scrapping sticky oil...

THE PROCESS......
take the trim/small buds fill your jar about 1/2 5/8 full, i just use my trim right off the plant i dont dry or frezzzzzz....

now pour the ISO into the jar enough to just cover your trim but still leaves you room to shake put lid back on....

now shake the piss out of it for about 10/15 seconds, now get your coffe filters which should be layered by now right.....if you have a helper this is where he/she can help have them hold the filter while you pour "slowly" the liquid and trim into the filter, once its in the filter you will need to let it drain through into you GLASS pan which is now under the coffe filter right, when it gets most of the way through you will need to kinds close the filters in on its self and gently squezzzzz the remaining liquid through the filters....you may need to do this twice per jar depending on how big your jar is....i try to messure it so i can do one whole jar at a time, so my trim is not sitting in the jar while i'm doing the first run.....

once you have the liquid in the GLASS dish you can either place that dish into a bigger dish filled with warm water this will help evaperate the ISO or you can just set it on the back pourch....if you can do this outside the would be better......DO NOT PUT IN MICRO WAVE OR OVER AN OPEN FLAM......this will take a bit to evaperate thats why i suggest you use 91% ISO instead of the 70% type...70% has a lot more water and that will make it take longer to evaperate.......

once everthing has been evaperated you can then get your CLEAN razor and begin to scrape the goooooy oil out of the pan...i like to mix mine with kiff which helps it solidate and makes it far easyer to handle....

ummmm well i think thats pretty much the way i do it.......
peace bro

P.S. again if you do this KEEP ALL FLAMS AWAY FROM WHERE YOUR WORKING ok buddy......

now to
