drying with a dehdrator

I know this isnt the ideal way to dry, but I may need to do a quick dry...has anyone ever used a dehydrator for this?
Does it have any negative effects that a rehydrration and cure will not solve?

there are oils and other essential moistures you don't want to dehydrate, air dry is honestly the only way to really do it right, speed it up with some fans...but just let it be if you can help it.

bluebublelove is absolutely right.

In a pinch, I have seen stainless mesh as a support, bent along two sides, so that it holds the drying surface/flat area of mesh roughly 3"-4" off the bottom of a tupperware or rubbermade food storage box, with the bottom of the food shelf filled with a couple of bags of desicant (spelling?), (the anti-moisture crystals), placed inside the bottom of the food storage box, and the bent mesh placed above the desicant so that there's no contact between crystals and vegetation, and the lid replaced on storage unit with vegetation laid out on the mesh. It shortens the drying process considerably, eliminates most odors in the drying area, but absolutely robs a decent curing process, and tastes more green than well-cured products do.

Vegetation contact with the desicant is not healthy, and use nothing but stainless mesh or nylon mesh as a drying surface. Galvanized metals, etc., are not 'food safe.'

mtbazz what up

I used to use a dehydrator all the time because i would be outta a stash before my new plants were ready. I would just do as much as i needed for about a week when the others would be naturally dried. But it does work.
I would dry them till the bud felt dry but the stems had moisture left. Then put them in jars to let the buds get moist again. Its up to you whether to put them back in the dehydrator or air dry them from there.
I guess its a little more harsh than slow dried bud, but desperate times call for desperate measures. good luck

When you say quick , you mean couple hours or couple days.

I have never had to dry anything in hours.
But a couple of days in a brown paper grocery bag and your good to go.
Do a 1 or 2 day hang , then toss them in a Brown paper grocery bag for 2 days maybe 3.

At this point you can smoke it and it will stay lit and would satisfy alot smokers.

Then throw then in a jar put a lid on it for a day .

This is the fastest 3 to 5 day cure i know.

works ok as long as the heat is real low. but ya it looses some taste and has a greener taste. potency wont really be affected if temps are low. best bet is to get dehydrator that allows no heat just fan.the heating element can be bypassed if your mechanically inclined in other dehydrators
