some inner leaves and buds turning brown during drying/curing
Did I fuck up? I'm doing the so-called Air-curing method. The temps had fallen down a bit in the room. As I was inspecting the buds, I noticed some of the inner leaves and some buds had turned a brownish color... Is it mold? There also seemed to be some kinda spore like looking things on one of the leaves. There was no bad smell though. I know this could be some mold... the inside of a small cola was a brownish color also. I cut it and threw it though again it had no smell...(if it molds it'll smell bad right?). Anybody experience this? Abybody got any advice?
Thanx. |

hard to say without a pic but if I were you I would remove all traces of anything unusual.
how is your airflow? just to be safe I'd trim the plant into smaller pieces, remove all large leaves, and increase air flow. unless you know its not humidity or lack of air flow doing it. good luck. always a pisser to lose crop AFTER the shit is done growing.

i believe its just some mold... if its just 4- 5 calyxes that its no problem.. but if u have considerable amount of brown stuff just prune it off...

How hot is your drying room? Does air circulate? Is it in a dry climate or humid?

also split your stems into four pieces at the tips and hang upside down.
if your drying by laying buds on their sides or something it doesn't give good air distribution. by splitting the stems at tips its drawing mosisture from the bottom up and out through the stem. if you just lay them on their sides transpiration will take place unevenly. and anecdotal evidence suggests they seem to keep more crap in them that way.

I think its mold also. Maybe it was undected when you pulled them. I had a couple branches with that brown mold too so I figured that was a good time to pull that strand because I figured more would rot and that was a sign of completion.

it could be early stages of mold, perhaps on buds that weren't recieving much light during growth (if it is out of keeping with the rest of the bud colours)
as said, removing leaves and maximising air flow should counter this susceptibility to these things is also pretty strain dependant go with those African strains man ... Nigerian, Congolese, Malawi Gold, Ethiopian Highland, Swazi... won't have mold problems them, and you'll be higher than the North Star on Christmas Eve cheers, Namkha |
