I have never seen eye guards that long on a forked horn. Is that a california mule deer by chance?

i took that picture and another 1 of that buck on a back country rd. he crossed in front of me, went up a 7' bank and stopped. i had time to stop my truck, find my phone and take 2 pictures before he wondered off. he was 10'-15' away.
