Local nature photos

Hi all,

Have been noticing a lot of divisive threads in this forum (politics, etc...) so figure I'd throw a little stoner positivity in here. I'd love for people to share some of their personal nature photos.

One of my favorite things to do is get on my bike and ride to somewhere I've never been before and just take the place in. Luckily I happen to live in New Zealand, which I think is one of the most beautiful and untouched places in the (first) world and is also not a huge land mass, so quite easy to travel around.

I'll post up a few of my own adventures and hopefully we can all travel vicariously around the world with each other.

If someone could also mention a good anonymous image hosting site, I'd be very grateful.

Nice pics. Are you from the North or South Island? Definitely on my bucket list to visit.

Here are a few pics from Northeast USA.

This is 3 days after a coastal storm and the ocean is still furious

Saw this hawk on my walk the other day. I think it was guarding a recent kill since it didn't seem bothered by my presence.

Cool thread! What about uploading pics on ICMag? imho it's the best option.

Here some random shots from Central America

When you take a couple of hours just to exit the fucking city center...yeah that's normal somewhere down there, just enjoy smog and noise.

But then, when you're out....you're out. Middle of nowhere, no one can find you...maybe not even yourself...only insects and predators can find you...and they fucking do it. No good when a grasshopper is big like an hand an locals call it lobster!

Better find a road to the sea

Wink

The Bumblebee refused to hold still for his close up. He moved faster than the auto focus could keep up with.
If I was not allergic I may have tried harder.

I wonder if that bee is eating microscopic insect or just catching a buzzzzzz. Either way its nice reminder that spring is on the way.

Awesome stuff guys, thanks for posting.

Green Squall; I'm in the North Island, in Auckland which is the largest city in NZ, very much a big city, but the first couple photos I posted are within 30 mins of the city so can't complain. The one with the clouds is coming into the Southern Alps in the South Island, one of the most beautiful and remote places I've ever been. That beaver chewed tree is a great photo man.

Noreason; That's super cool, my dad used to live in Costa Rica so spent a bit of time there in my youth, would have loved to spend a lot more time there and explore. I remember the mosquitos were savage enough to bit you through your bed sheets and when out surfing once (badly) there were stingrays in the waves next to me. Truly a wild and beautiful place.

Phaeton; great ones man, hard to get a good shot of a bee. Nice poppies too, I've only ever had slugs get into mine, they destroy the pods then die lol.

PDX; man, I haven't seen a chipmunk in years, we don't have them here sadly. Love any mushroom shots too and that macaroni has given me meal inspiration for my upcoming Easter trip.

pangolin; Those shots are great, you've really captured the tranquility of those places. I want roll up a J and chill in that middle photo.

Here's a couple more photos from near me.

This is where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific ocean, hard to capture in a photo but that central turbulent bit actually looks like a whirlpool.

This is the oldest tree in NZ, Tane Mahuta. Estimated to be between 1,250 and 2,500 years old. Had to panorama shot this one.

This was my old outdoor spot, 30 mins from the city centre. Three hour hike to get here, but what a view. Probably still has some Panama x DC kicking around the spot.

Yeah brother, mosquitos are a pain in the ass, maybe the most important thing to consider when living is such a country! Fuck sharks, fuck snakes, fuck spiders and scorpions, mosquitos will eat you, period. Well you can take a shower with anti-mosquitos but they will wait! Train the mind to don't scratch and avoid too many punctures in the first three months/1 year. Then you're safe, they will not bite you anymore like before. People from out the country are fresh juicy peaces of meat for them. Body needs a time to get his things working.

However nature over there is awesome, you feel it, so many species all around, big and small.

From the big ficus

to the really small pussy orchid

and another orchid
