Cloners are near 100% (4 or5 yrs), but First try DWC buckets not so good ????

So i am getting a bit confused by an experiment i am doing.

I made a couple of DWC buckets to test results compared to my normal soil grows i have done for years using Earth Juice Orig.

I have used aero-cloning for about 5-6 years now with near perfect success...i might lose 1 out of 36 each run,,,usually user error on the cut never had rot or slime in the cloner, w/ T5 , RO with a drop or 3 of Res-Clear (weak chlorine).

So i start these buckets and choose to use AN ph perfect line since i had some small sample bottles i have accumulated from various Canna-events...i went out to the store and got the Voodoo, Piranha, & Tarantula Microbe Beneficials as everyone has said Absolutly need to have Beneficials in DWC.

So another week and I've got healthy white roots about a foot long coming out of the cloner and into new and rinsed hydroton in the netpots, so i mix up the scheduled nutrients at 1/3 dose A+B, B52, Cal-Mag and add the Beneficials at full dose, Ph is right at 5.8 ....now things start getting weird....

After the 2nd or 3rd day everything is seemingly ok, except for a few leaf edges with a slight slight taco curl...so i open up a lid to see how much roots have grown in 2 days and cant believe what i see....The healthy white roots are now brown tinted and stringy looking with very noticeable decrease in fine root hairs and tiny dark masses on the roots, which almost made me think a accidentally spilled a tiny bit of soil or promix into netpot or something..., so i check the next bucket and same thing, all of the buckets have the exact same thing at little different levels!!!

So i can only assume this is brown algae root rot...the pictures i can find online seem to verify it.

So how is this happening with a full Benefical Microbe dose after only 2 days?

I have taken one of the buckets, cleaned and filled with RO + Res Clear (weak chlorine), A+B, Cal Mag and B52......dip-cleaned roots in RO + Res Clear, and am waiting to see the results. After 2 days the roots in the 1 clean/sterile bucket seem to be Slowly regaining health, whereas the Bennie Microbe buckets are seemingly failing and rotting worse with more dark brown masses on roots.

Quick Overview:
- Individual 5 Gal. BubblBuckets
- 4" round airstone in each
-under 400w MH air cooled (didnt want to turn up to 600w in case overnight burning with root issues)
-Water temp steady 63-65F aquarium digital thermometer
-Ph 5.8 tested AM and PM (surprised Ph perfect works as well as it does)
-Been Changing out water/bennies ever other day trying to refresh/control the rot

1 possibility i thought could be i do have clear airline tubing, but it seems the problem came up to big too fast to be from that ....or am i wrong? i have ordered black airline will be here soon.

Why is this happening? What should i check on or change out?

15+ years with DWC. I run with zero beneficials, only use additives I've tested personally and always use r/o. I'd have to test each product, since I've found many cause issues.

Res temps between 65f-69f, 1liter/minute of air per gallon of nutrient solution. Find your minimum healthy feed level and stay there.
I don't use bleach or h2o2 or anything else, I keep the res clean through management of my actions.

quick update, after another round of dip cleaning the roots in a bucket full of RO & Res Clean, and then adding them to back to clean system (3rd change/clean this week) with MORE H2O2 than used before and the roots are looking healthy and new bright white tips growing again

so the answer was a combo of more H2O2 and swapping clean water out several times to flush out the bacteria falling off the roots as the h202 and res clear (chlorine) cleaned everything, and also h2o2 cleaned the airstones which i believe helped.

things looking to be back on track, sterile res from now on, Bennies can wait for soil again

no, first try at hydro buckets, have always done soil mostly organic, earth juice and teas

this is an experiment to compare results of my typical grows compared to hydro with advanced...see of aromas and flavors are different at all

High !!!

I have the same problem here, each and every single time i start the new plants in DWC with Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect Grow, the roots turn brownish and look rot as fuck, the first time i was like OK WTF is wrong, i never found what create that but i got the solution for you my men.

You just need to wash the plant roots zone carefully with city tap water under the shower or sink, the chemical inside it will clean all the brown rot shit.. the roots are not yet sick or just residue from the Advanced Nutrients fertilizer but in early stage the root will fully recover and in my case never need another wash. i personally not change the solution from the bucket after the wash in the shower, but if you're maniac it's better to refill the bucket with new solution.

We both got the same nutrients and the same problem as i can see.
