Hello to everyone.I have 4×315 CMD Philips bulbs and was wondering if I could line some simple reflectors i have with Orca reflective film to increase reflectivity.
I dont know how flammable Orca is.I would have oscilating fans working at the height of bulbs.
I have used Orca to line a stucco reflector with cooltube in the past with great sucess.

I've used 2" metal ducting tape before, a large roll has enough coverage for a decent sized reflector. I don't think it made much of a difference though. Maybe the shinier mylar kind of tape with lettering on the face would work better.

Should be unnecessary. Isn't the reflector white on the inside?

I think Orca has much better total reflectivity (i.e not only reflectivity percentages but diffusion of light etc) in comparison to flat white or metal ducting tape guys. Someone can tell this with "naked" eyes. I think it's a very good way to turn a mediocre reflector like the stucco ones or the imitation versions of Adjust-A-Wing which don't use first grade aluminium. I am not sure how hot things would get, running the risk of Orca catching fire.

Granger2 i bought separately CMD bulb+ballast, so there is no reflector that came with them. What i use as reflector is my choice, but because those CMD sets have cost me a respectable amount of money, i am looking for ways to protect my wallet by not using original Adjust-A-Wings for example which cost 100 euros each or more.

I would love to hear if anyone has tried it after all with reflectors which were not "protected" by cooltube. As i said previously, i did it lining a simple stucco reflector with cooltube and the difference was very noticeable.

I'm using an adjusta-wing right now on one of my lights.
On a whim I polished the reflective side with some of that woolly felt polish product that comes in a small can.
Nasty black oxidation immediately came off of it and the surface is now much more reflective and even feels smoother. Made a huge difference.

I used regular aluminum HVAC tape (actually shines up pretty nice, probably more reflective than orca), but I was thinking that actual mylar tape would be better:

Not the thin plastic stuff at the store with the brand name wording all over it, probably not rated for heat or uv resistant like the metalized type..

I think Orca and the other thicker films are mostly designed to be water proof, I wouldn't want it right next to an HID myself. Did you put it inside or on the outside of the cool tube?

The tape however is designed for withstanding temps like a reflector...



I have like a 50' roll of thin 2 ft wide aluminum sheet flashing material laying around somewhere, I could probably make 20+ adjusta wings out of it. Already pre-curved from being rolled up too, maybe you could do something like that?
