Size of collection pot for cotton candy
Thanx to GrayWolf I am now using the cotton candy
technique using a 6 x 6 collection pot harvesting about 1 oz at a time. Even with just 1 oz, I sometime hit the lid of my pot and make a mess. I am now looking to upgrade my collection pot and wondering what would be the minimum and maximum quantity I could be collecting using this technique in a 12x12 pot. Thanx |

A WolfWurx Mk IVC used a 12X12" pot with a 4X36" column and filled the pot with cotton candy from prime material. There is a minimum, as too thin a pool at the bottom and it doesn't foam up, but not sure what that is. If we ASSume you need a 1/4" of pool, then a 12" pool 1/4" deep is about 28.3 cu/in. If your yield is 20%, then you would need about 142 cu/in material, which at 3.8 grams per cu/in would be 538 grams of plant material, or about 1.18 lbs. What you can do is stack a second spoon on top of the collection pot, to gain volume for the foam.

Thanx for the response.
How long can you keep the cotton candy "powder" in the freezer if you want to process part of it later? I keep some that I harvested from the freezer after whipping it into dust, put it in parchment and in a foodsafe plastic container that I vacuumed and left it in the freezer for 48 hours as a test. I then vacuum purged it in the oven as usual and it came out really nice but also really soft and not hard like usual. Have you ever kept some of your cotton candy in the freezer for an extended period of time? |
