Headbanger, Karma OG, White OG V2 first run

Howdy folks,

Karma was so nice to replace my bad promo seeds and I figure the least I can do is run a little log here to return some of the favor.

Can't post pics yet but will soon.

For those that don't know me, a quick summary of my setup:
- Early veg under T5s (that's where the seedlings currently are but they are quickly outgrowing those lights)
- Extended veg under 400W MH
- Flower: 2 rooms. Small: 315W CMH blue spectrum bulb, Big: 630w CMH red spectrum bulb

I grow in organic soil. 1 gallon pots for veg, 5 gallon smart pots for flower. My soil mix is over at the organic soil forum section. It's basically clackamas coot's mix with slight variations that I made over the last 2 years and 3 runs.

I used to water with well water but have since returned to tap water, which I let air-out to get rid of most chlorines and the like and PH because I had issues in the past with nute lockout. People say you don't need to PH in organics but I have had some problems when I didn't and things go smoothly when I do PH. Might be that the 5 gallon pots are just not big enough.

Aaaaanyway, long story short:

Popped 12 Karma OG, 12 Headbanger and 18 White OG V2 a few weeks ago.

10 of the White OG V2 were Promo seeds that did germ but did not make it out of the soil. The 8 original pack White OG V2 grew just fine. Karma replaced the promo seeds since and I will run the replacements (King Mamba CKF and Crumbled Lime) in the near future (I hope). If anyone got info on the King Mamba CKF (and what CKF stands for) feel free to educate me as I couldn't find info on that strain

I culled 1 more Karma OG after it looked too sickly and also culled 3 of the headbangers early.

So I am currently left with:
- 9 Headbanger
- 11 Karma OG
- 8 White OG V2

There are two more runts among the Karma OG which I might end up culling but they used to be 3 runts of which 1 at some point just got out of it and is now nearly as big as the rest.
I hope the remaining 2 runts will do the same or I end up culling them two. Gonna give them another week or two.
I grow slow and with lots of time. It's all headstash for me so I have no pressure

As I said will post pics soon but at the moment it's boring seedling stage. Although they look real nice if you ask me. Will transplant soon to 1 gallon veg pot, top and start LST.

Will then "overveg" them until I can clearly sex them from preflowers and they are big/strong enough and then transplant to 5 gallon flower, veg for another week or two under the new lighti/in the new pot and flip them.

I will keep clones of the males and do a male flower run to hopefully find a keeper male out of these 3 lines (or maybe even more than one? ).
Still haven't found a surefire way to select a male but I hope when I flower the males I will find at least one that is very resinous and has a great smell, that's likely what I am after.

Have one question for the Karmunity ahead of time:
Scrog net yay or nay?
I have never used one before. So far I got by with staking the plants with bamboo and binding the main shoots to the stick. But I already had some issues with flopping last run.
And that was without running Chemdog/OG Kush genetics. Would really like a hint if I can get by with staking or if a scrog is mandatory.

My flower space can unfortunately only be entered through the front and I can't reach the plants from all sides. I will find it very difficult to insert one of those DIY scrog nets you frame on PVC pipe as I would have to assemble it in the flower room itself (I can't fit a large enough scrog net on PVC through the door).

Alternatively: My room is made of wood so I can just insert hook-screws all around and make a static scrog net in there. But then I won't be able to defoliate or otherwise touch any of the plants for the entire flower period...

Basically I would have to veg them for 2 weeks, then flip, flower for two weeks then get all the plants out of the flower room, defoliate, go in and install the scrog net, starting at the far end and moving towards the door, always hanging one row of scrog net, jamming the plants under it, then hanging the second row of scrog net, plants under it, etc. etc.

But once I did that, I couldn't touch the plants for the rest of flower because I couldn't get them out of the room again without tearing down the scrog net...

Bit of a pickle but maybe I make it harder than I need to and it is just fine to not touch them anymore after week 2 of flower.

Any thoughts, feedback ,opinion are welcome.
