Sweet Mary's Charms II

Sweet Mary's Charms II
A summary of the extensive work done on the paper Constituents of Cannabis Sativa L XVII, A Review of the Natural Constituents, by Turner, Elsohly, and Boeren at the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy,
University of Mississippi.

Dr. Fischedick was kind enough to provide me with a copy of a paper done at Old Miss, as part of my research on the THC and CBN cycles. A lengthy tome, which details the 421 compounds they found in Sweet Mary, ranging from our beloved cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, to alkaloids and Alkane hydrocarbons.

To say that I was blown away, would be an understatement, and puts new meaning to the term "Whole Plant Extract."

ASP Publications can provide the whole article at: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/np50008a001

For those of ya'll looking for an arms around view, check out the following table that I whomped up from their excellent work:

https://thealchemistresource.thealch...-false_20.html

PS: I tried to post the table here, but it was corrupted. Anyone more computer savy that Moi is welcome to give it a try.

I attached a few screenshots from GW's table.

That's an old paper. ElSohly has more recent published works. I just downloaded The Analytical Chemistry of Cannabis (2016) Marijuana and the Cannabinoids (2007) and Cannabis sativa L. - Botany and Biotechnology (2017) for free. The latter is a slow download at this time.

Thanks SH! Good news on finding more cannabinoids and I look forward to the day there are double the number found today, though the point of the post is how many other things are in Sweet Mary that we've never considered or talked about. IE, the alkanes and alkaloids for instance. It also seems to be missing at least a page.

Each of those also has medicinal effects, adding to the overall entourage when doing "whole plant" extractions.

What do you think of some claims of a full spectrum extract containing 50%cannabinoids, 25%terpenes and 25% other bioactive molecules(not inert wax's/lipids)

What % of dry plant material or trichomes are the flavonoids, alkaloids and Alkane hydrocarbons?

That ratio of end product seems out to lunch, considering the ratio we start with.

Sadly, they didn't quantify the different constituents, and ostensibly the process makes a difference. 50% cannabinoids and 25% terpenes seem way out of proportion from what we've observed on our GC with BHO or QWET, which is typically 80 to 90%+ cannabinoids and 5 to 10% terpenes.

At the bottom of the post is a link, click on it, if the page doesn't open use the 'Link won't open?' trick in my ICMAG Signature to get the page to open. There you'll find a list of the books by Dr. ElSohly available to download for free. Click on one of the 'mirrors' to get to a page for the actual download, at the top of the page will be a link indentifed as 'GET,' click on it to start your download. Usually these downloads are quick, couple of minutes at the most. I've found closing other windows/tabs you have open speeds up the download.

I learned of Library Genesis from G.O. Joe, and he has another site for downloading scientific papers for free, similar style.

Those are some nice books, I previously held the opinion Dr. ElSohly wasn't on our side, shame on me.

Thanks Pangea!!

Here's a link to download the paper GW referenced for free, use the trick in my ICMAG Signature if it doesn't open,

https://libgen.io/scimag/?s=Constitu...&p=&redirect=1

I used the first of the Links, Libgen. It took less than two minutes to download the file after clicking on 'GET.'

Search for Mechoulam too. Rare cannabinoids seem to be often found in Africa and Thailand, and el-Sohly's Mexican pot after years of storage. Um ok so hi from Sam too. What you want to bookmark I think is their twitter you may find links there. Go to google scholar and search for this for instance and you will find a link to the pubs.acs paywall for it. There is always a DOI somewhere at the publisher's page either in the form of doi: --- or dx.doi.org/---. Enter the DOI at scihub while you can. Go back to google scholar and click on the cited by. Download all those and then the cited by of them for as long as you can stay focused.
