I personally do not worry about wasting time, my life is full of wasted time. I like to control the plant, shape it, I used to be more au naturel but I have come to the realize that in order to get consistency in bag appeal and overall quality, while gardening indoors, is to control the plant, and not the other way around.

topping is good when they are 2-4 weeks old and stretching for the light, once multiple tops develop and you have semi strong stems its good to bend them all out in opposite directions, once those pop back up, Ill top again, but lightly, usually to make clones for the next one, and then bend as needed untill the flip or 2 weeks into it, depending on the strain.
