Question about moving a light back and forth in a 2x4 cab

Sup everybody I got a question about optimizing my light setup in a couple 2x4 cabinets. I have a nice scrog setup going and am running a 400w hps with a hortilux super hps bulb. The cabs run alternately I move the hps from one to the other every 12hrs. I have some 4 outlet vertical light fixtures and was going to put one on either side of the hps with daylight cfls to add some blue light and keep the edges lit up.

My question is should I keep the hps in the middle with cfls on the sides or would it be better to move the hps to one side every 6hrs or so when I can. Say start the first 6hrs of the daylight schedule with the hps on the left cfls on the right then switch for the last 6hrs. Would this help or hurt anything? Thanks for any input on this

You could just tether the light hood to an oscillating fan, to pull it back and forth with some string and eye hooks. It makes a cheap light mover, good for a foot or 2 anyway

Do you mean you actually move the light from one box to the other? That's crazy lol. They make ballasts that flip automatically so you can plug in 2 hoods...

Also you might as well use some 8-15 watt daylight screw in LED bulbs, instead of the cfls. Just cut the domes off and they put out more lumens.

I might try that I've heard of people making those diy light movers for now I guess I'll just leave it in the middle with some side lighting. I already have a bunch of leds that I used a dremel tool to cut the domes off last time I used them I got some bad light burn but I think I overdid it and had too many way too close. I had around 40 15w Phillips leds packed into the same boxes and only 6" above the canopy lol.

Moving the light between the boxes is no biggy either been doing that for years takes 2min to swap over. Moving the light more often then that would suck though so I'll just use some leds for side lighting and give them another try I can set 8 up on each side of the hps and prolly not even need a light mover. Thanks for the input drop

I have chains with hooks on the end so swapping the light over every 12hrs is easy I swap at 10pm and 10am every day.

No problem man, at least with the additional LEDs in your boxes & on a timer, you wouldn't have to worry about messing up the schedule. Sounds like you got it under control though!

I'm about to build some screw in LED bulb arrays to supplement my hps bulbs too. I was thinking about the 15-17 watt cree floodlamps. With flexible snake tube sockets so I can point them anywhere.

Yeah it's np swapping over the cabinets are side by side so swapping the lights is easy. I've thought about getting a flip and a timer but I'm used to doing it this way and having to swap twice a day keeps me in the habit of checking up on them.

I've used these 4 way sockets from Amazon you should check them out they work pretty nice

You can attach a utility lamp with the reflector removed and chains or nylon rope in my case around the 4 way sockets to hang them from. Just had my first bowl in 3 months feels like I'm floating on a cloud

I'm glad I'm not the only crazy..

I swap my 600w'er between two 3x3 tents every 12 hours with unistrut trolleys and trolley brackets, cool tube, fans and all, also having to manually change my inkbird controllers between night and day setting. Takes 5 minutes, no big deal. Wearing a watch helps with the anxiety.

Don't know enough about lighting to help with your predicament, but I salute your punctuality.
