Eliminating Nitrogen Assist

I have a rack mounted cls, the dewaxing chamber uses nitrogen assist to alleviate vapor lock when dumping into the collection pot.

I’m considering connecting the top of the collection pot to the top of the dewaxing chamber w a hose and a valve, that way after the dump valve is opened, the valve separating the top of the collection pot and the top of the dewaxing column could be opened, once the butane hits the warm collection pot the vapor created would then rise to the top of the dewaxing column eliminating the issue with vapor lock. The benefits would be that one would not have to use nitrogen and also it would eliminate the need to place the collection pot on dry ice to reduce its vapor pressure.

I’m curious if anyone else has tried this, I’m fearful that this could prolong the dumping stage significantly, although it may be worth it by eliminating the need for extra dry ice and nitrogen.

you would just be equalizing your pressure and not have any energy to push through the filter. differential pressure between the top of your filtering solution and your collection pot is what produces your flow. If you equalize that, gravity will be the only thing assisting your solution through the filter.

Yes that’s what I was aiming for, just wasn’t sure if the force of gravity was enough to push the solution through the filter

Would gravity be enough or would the filter win?
