Pot size ?
Is there a difference in yield between flowring in a 12" pot as opposed to a 8 inch pot?

Yes you should get more yield with the 12" pot.
General rule of thumb is 1 gallon of soil per foot of plant height or so I've heard.

Another rule of thumb, is that the roots are as big as the top. So, if your roots are constrained and with a possible root ball, well, that will impare yield significantly; Considering that your kind of stunting your plants growth well before it's harvest time, so you're losing a month+ worth of grow time. That's just my unsober logic.

the bigger the better no smaller than 3/4 gallon per foot of plant. but 1 gallon per foot is a great rule to go with. good luck

Well it really depends, if you plan on growing a fully matured plant all the way, usually bigger pots size = bigger yield. But if you have a sog set up, then usually you want to use a smaller container to fit more plants in a square foot area (usually 4 per square foot).
Also depends on height of gardening area. If you only have a 4' ceiling height such as a cabinet, you have to take into consideration, lamp/reflector height, as well as the container height, versus growth height. Another factor is expertise in the area of what you are growing. You can have a 10 gallon container, that will yield shitty if you don't what you're doing versus an 8" container and know exactly what you're doing. Also how many plant do you plan on growing will also lead to what size of container you'll want to use vs. growing area. Needless to say, there's alot of factors that will change depending on how, where and what you are growing. |
