Sorry to say, but the USA are a joke today, a bitter joke.

History has everything to do with this.

" It is only regrettable that so few are able to see history clearly. "

Again, nice thoughtful response

If you scale up the guns laws and the 'feeling safer with everybody having guns' attitude, i wonder this-

Would you feel safer if every country in the world had nuclear weapons?

The only realistic long term solution is that ALL countries find common ground and phase out nuclear weapons.

If there is a need for a small amount of nuclear weapons they should not owned by any country, just by some organization like NATO.
It would be nice to live long enough to see that happen.

So, there is my view on the gun quandary.

so i read this morning the shooter had a criminal record from his air force stint
slapped his wife and kid around, did some time
and when he filled out the form at the gun shop, he listed no criminal history
simple lack of enforcement? not the first time this has come up if so

Gun control will never work weed is illegal under federal law but we have thousands of shops openly selling. Heroin has been illegal since 1924 in 2017 it's an epidemic the number 1 killer of people under 30 years old is opiate overdose.

Why it always turns into a gun rights issue when ever a massacre occurs is absurd, he could have plowed a Mack truck through the church. 80 or so died in France by a truck let alone the almost daily attacks in the Middle East our media doesn't cover.

Recorded historical facts have nothing to do with German bashing.
However, your blanket statement of "USA is a joke" could fall into the category of "America bashing".

Just saying!

RE religion: I doubt there are any radicalized atheists or agnostics. One never sees mass murders done by people screaming "ATHEISM!!" or "AGNOSTICISM!!". So let's please put the lack of being Christian far to the side. This type of thing is a mental illness caused by our societies, whether 'influenced' by religious creeds or not.

The so-called civil court system is very far from a level playing field. Very little gets resolved there. If anything, it just makes people angrier.

Same for the "Criminal" court system.

It's a Harvey Weinstein society - if you're a member of the right demographic group, you can get away with raping 35 women.

If you're a member of the wrong demographic group, your life is destroyed by an arrest for a small amount of Cannabis.

It's basically a Caste system, like India used to have and maybe still does have.

Interesting analogy... and how many countries are willing to do away with their nuclear arsenals? It's simply not going to happen. It seems some here believe in an all-powerful 'New World Order' and placing 'absolute ultimate power' in the hands of a very few? No... I don't think so!!

1. Remove firearms from the hands of good people? It was a local bystander with a rifle who stopped that crazy SOB. Had he been denied ownership of his rifle, that lunatic could have kept going to place after place murdering at will until taken down by police. That bystander... with a rifle... may have saved dozens of lives. Had a few church parishioners been armed, there's a very good chance one or more of them could have stopped that bastard much sooner.

2. Had the killer not had access to firearms then he would have used bombs or some other form of weapon.

3. I find it very disturbing that many folks can't understand these points.
