Another homegrown Terror Attack. Until we start calling them what they are we won't be able to address them. i am sure Gypsy will be chiming in any minute with all the facts of White American domestic terrorist or maybe the shooter wasnt brown enough. Just so you know I don't care what shooter is its all terrorism.
So sad that families have to go through yet another tragedy

Psych evals are not conclusive. They are open to subjective interpretation. And mental health clinicians (of all varieties), to include M.D. psychiatrists, and PhD psychologists, can be as human and bias as the next person when it comes to the filters they see life through.
In example, many cops are subjected to Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory tests for pre-employment. The tests may show a propensity or profile, but will not come out and say, "This person's nuckin' futs!" Scores merely show propensity or profile. nothing conclusive. And taking away rights based on what -might-occur, is frowned on in this Country. (*Not withstanding the NDAA's broad extra-legal authorities, and similar totalitarian BS). In fact, many of the MMPI test trends for persons seeking control or authority positions have historically revealed a tendency toward a sociopathic and/or narcissistic profile; doctors, lawyers, cops, mental health therapists, judges, etc. All people who at one level or another figure their shit's wired tightly enough to define reality and boundaries in life for others. Sound a bit ego-oriented? Perhaps a bit tilted in some ways? Yet they still get a badge and a gun. That's why the Form 4473 asks if a person has "ever been ADJUDICATED mentally ill." Meaning, has a formal hearing by a qualified court found the person in question to be mentally ill to the extent that such a hearing (often an ex parte' hearing) is/was necessary in their history. Then there's the issue of the abuse of that history. Many vets have been denied firearms ownership due to a PTSD diagnosis. And despite the fact that the whole perception of PTSD vets being time-bombs waiting to go off, being disproved by stats. Or, is a person who was once determined to be circumstantially/briefly depressed, or suffering a full blown depression, following a serious life crisis (death of a loved one, etc.) still mentally ill? Going much beyond the requirement of a formal court finding of mental incompetence starts to enter into the concepts presented in the film 'Minority Report.' Who wants to live in that world? And a NICS back-ground check only applies to a sale from a licensed dealer holding an FFL. Private sales in many places occur will-nilly, off the books. Life has risks. Sometimes the outcomes of those risks suck. Condolences to the injured, the dead, and their loved ones. Last edited by moose eater; 11-06-2017 at 04:58 AM.. |

Its a sorry state of affairs, no matter what the reasons are behind it, no matter what the colour, religion, past history or political persuasion of the perpetrator you or I might think (or know) is its cause, or some contributing factor.
This is the act of a madman. No sane person walks into a crowded place of worship with a rifle and shoots unarmed people. The innocent victims and their poor families are suffering because of a lunatic with an AR15. Its happened before and will most probably happen again. I don't have any idea how to prevent further attacks such as this, guns or no guns lunatics will always find a way to kill people, if they are that way inclined.

A friend and I drove past that church Saturday. We stopped and had lunch in Stockdale about five miles southeast of there and spoke with a few residents. They were very friendly good old small town folks. My heart breaks for those affected.
If it's true that a bystander with a rifle shot the killer then he deserves a medal, IMO. He may have saved dozens of lives if the killer was headed elsewhere to do more harm. |

Over 25 people were killed while in their place of worship if that is the definition of TERRORISM I don't know what is. The hypocrisy in this thread kills me look at the different words used, all the mental health talk etc none of this would be mentioned if the shooter were brown. In fact this thread would be flooded with links and articles about terrorism. Where are all the links to DOMESTIC TERRORIST? People are to afraid to admit that Radical Christian Terrorism is a huge issue in America and all our mass killings were perpetrated by them. I know its hard and no one likes to admit that people that look like them could be a part of the problem. This video sums up how peoples opinions change when the person committing the act of terror looks like them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsMXtlW1uoE

'Former classmates say Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, who stormed First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs in Texas and opened fire on Sunday, was 'creepy', 'crazy' and 'weird'.
Patrick Boyce, who attended New Braunfels High School with the killer, told DailyMail.com: 'He had a kid or two, fairly normal, but kinda quiet and lately seemed depressed. 'He was the first atheist I met. He went Air Force after high school, got discharged but I don't know why. 'I was just shocked [to hear the news]. Still haven’t quite processed how he could have done that.' Nina Rose Nava, who went to school with the gunman, wrote on Facebook: 'In (sic) in complete shock! I legit just deleted him off my fb cause I couldn't stand his post. 'He was always talking about how people who believe in God we're stupid and trying to preach his atheism' Christopher Leo Longoria replied: 'I removed him off FB for those same reasons! He was being super nagtive (sic) all the timd (sic).' Michael Goff added: 'He was weird but never that damn weird, always posting his atheist sh** like Nina wrote, but damn he always posted pics of him and his baby - crazy.' If you want to attach some religion to this terrorism, then that seems to be difficult because this nut-case looks to be an ATHEIST!
