Devin Patrick Kelley identified as shooter. High school graduate, Air Force Veteran and used an AR type weapon.
Who thinks a psych evaluation should be a requirement for firearms purchases? Or at least for semi autos? I fully support the 2nd Amendment, but something needs to be done. Taking away guns from law abiding citizens is not and will never be the answer to gun violence. |

I think this is far deeper than "just becoming trendy".
I don't think that most folks that join the US military understand what they're volunteering for. Once that paper is signed, the US Government is now an individuals owner & controller. The government doesn't need permission & doesn't need to inform the individual of psychological experiments being performed upon them. This, coupled with sending people into war zones can really fuck a mind up. |

Texas has some of the most lax guns laws in the country. I wonder if they even did a background check on this guy. It will a tricked out AR so it doesn't seem to have been purchased on the black market.
On the other hand, I read that the shooter was shot by a good guy with a gun outside the church. |

there will be a limit to what people will take
if the fear of guns in psycho hands goes beyond the fear of government, then change will come what will that be? mental health tests a very hard sell character references are the gold standard for employment

The problem with mental health test, is the people administering them have biases. A liberal will most likely deny anyone who doesn't have similar belifes, on the other hand a conservative will deny most liberals. It will be politicized. Anyone who doesn't belive this, look at the IRS denying tax exempt status for hundreds of conservative groups. The problem is the media and both political parties have hearded people into opposing groups. We aren't Americans any more. We are liberal, conservative, evangelical, socialist, atheist, anarchists. Conservatives and evangelicals take the brunt of it, because the media has a hatred of God. It's still on both sides.
