Thanks man! I had a 86 Porsche too! a 944 Turbo was white with black interior. It had had a complete engine rebuild just before we bought it and it never missed a beat. A bit laggy compared with more recent turbo cars I've had like Audi S4 which had zero lag. You had to watch it in the damp because if that turbo hits mid bend... lots of smoke, tyre wear and ridicule from other motorists. was scary over 150 imo. suddenly felt too light. You had to be 110% focused to drive that thing hard or you die. The Audi could be driven hard by a learner

Yes spav,,they can be laggy as hell,,i got caught out in a 911 turbo when i was just 19yrs old,not mine of course,,,road was greasy in winter,,,boost kicked in when i didnt expect it and you can guess the rest,,,,,
you have you seen the price of 944 turbos recently?,,,,
some of the owners in the club have them with 350-400bhp but cost a fortune to get them to that level,,,
like the Audis,,love the og quattros but a £100k for a good one,,,RS4 =4.2 is a total wolf in sheeps clothing and we would have got one but realized my licence would be gone in no time,,,,,,beauty or curse of audis is how so much power and easy to drive they are and could get peeps in trouble very quickly...
i dont do any of my own spannering hence i wont own a turbo,,,,
power delivery is still brutal in an s2 and lots of torque low down and no lag, amazing balance also,,,s2

The username is a bit of a giveaway!
Always been a vw/Audi man but then a few yrs back got a Saab 95aero estate which I fell in love with in a big way.
Someone smashed into it and wrote it off, went left field and now in a supercharged Merc. First rwd I've had and takes a bit of getting used to lol

Good luck with the project Spav, looks a beast of a machine....

Speaking of old fords, i see there is no mention of the historic Mk1 / Mk2 Escort RS 2000.
Its that type of car i will never fall out of love with same can be said for the mexico and 1600 sport. Dream machines in there day and still are, back wheel drive for hard bends and cornering in the snow what more could you ask for.. Do be looking at the prices from time to time they can range from anything from 30 grand upwards to 50 grand though most have been built for either events or European rallies they do not have the same bhp as some of the previous mentioned but are no slouch either. Obviously well maintained and stored over a long period of time by some keen enthusiasts... I would be lucky getting 50 quid for that piece of shit of mines... Keep us updated dude with your progress.

you saying that reminds of when the starter on the Audi died. I got the new starter, got my dad over to help. Not much scares me or him so after a quick look we got stuck in finding someone else to do it I called an Audi specialist who charged £1000 to do it. He had it a week and had the whole engine out.
