PC fan hook up.??

Can some one please explain, ( with pic's if possible) how to hook up the wiring for PC fan to a 120v plug for the wall outlet.
Also, Is there a FAQ's Page here like OG had?

if you have a 12 volt fan, i don't know how...

but if you have a 120 Volt fan...

from radio shack's website:

"$19.99

120VAC 3" Fan
Model: 3" AC Fan | Catalog #: 273-242

Avoid hot spots by spot cooling with this powerful 120VAC 3 cooling fan. It's perfect for cooling a pc...
"

then you need a cord with a plug...

strip some insulation off each wire of the loose end of the plug, tape them to each wire from the fan (or solder), and you are done.

You need a 12v DC powersupply... this will step down the voltage so you can use it.

Most pc fans are 12 volt so you need a adapter to convert the volts from 120 to 12 or lower. A old cell phone charger can be used, Be warned most cellphone chargers are only 6-8 volts so ur fan will not be running at full speed. You can also stop by radio shack and pickup a 12v adapter for like 10$ if u want to get the most out of your fan. Anyways for wiring Im not 100% sure if this is how your supposed to do it but this is how i did mine and it works great, First cut of the end of the adapter and strip it , then strip the pc fan wires then just attach red to red and black to black and plug it in. I had a extra yellow cord too that i just taped off im not sure if im losing voltage by doing that or not but thats just how i did it. If you have multiple fans go to the hardware store and buy a junction which can be used to run multiple fans off one adapter. Another alternative is to use a pc power supply and just hook the fan hookups straight to that... hope this helps.

i use equipment cooling fans on a rack they pull 48 volts....i bridge two 24 volt adapters together than hooh up to my rack...and i keep the adapters on top of the rak so the exaust from the cabinet cools them.

if you have a 12 volt fan use a 12 volt adapter....not reallyhard on the adapter it will say which wire is positve... and which is negatve...and on the fan it will say it as well

that yellow wire on 12V fans is just an output for computer to detect fan speed, not needed.
